Let´s get one thing straight. I don´t know much about trees or plants as a whole, and I am not really interested in bothanical gardens as such. What drew me here was the remains of the fish saltery industry that once resided here. BUT I did appreciate the park since it is well kept, and the exotic trees, the birds singing and the sculptures made it a very meditative and pleasant visit.

We were in the town with our dog to visit the vets. Our appointment was later than our arrival and we wanted to find something to do to kill a couple of hours. Trip advisor reviews for the park were good. On arrival all entrances to the park had NO Dogs allowed signs. Very disappointed we were unable to visit this attraction. I attempted to find the website for the park advertised but itis not available.

A surprising find just a few minutes walk back from the seafront. The Park has been beautifully laid out and perfect for a nice stroll through the gardens and some very interesting modern stone statues all over the place.

The Park was scrupulously clean and leads to a central area where there are some ancient Roman ruins believed to be where the Romans created salted fish. Probably for long sea voyages to feed their sailors, soldiers etc. Beautifully presented and a very interesting piece of History. There are remains of an ancient Fort overlooking the gardens, the castle of San Miguel.

In the center of the Park is a concrete area just in front of a covered stage which is obviously used for all manner of shows. Just in front of the stage are several small kiosks selling some interesting curios and engraved glass.

The visit only takes about 20 to 30 minutes but is perfect for a short walk after eating a meal as there are several excellent Tapas Bars and Restaurants in the area. Please see the attached photographs, I hope you find this review helpful.

We had planned to stroll through this park on the way to the Castillo San Miguel, and were thrilled to find that a food festival (Feria Gastronómico) was going on. So we stopped to enjoy the shade, music, and excellent food.

There was an amphitheater nearby, so if there are similar musical or cultural events with any sort of frequency, then it is a great place to enjoy some entertainment in a lovely tropical garden atmosphere.

When I first visited Almunecar decades ago, this area was a wasteland by the town garbage dump. When the town decided to clean up the mess in the 80'S lo and behold there were Roman ruins underneath ... but wait ... pre roman ruins! The area is now a lovely botanical garden and Archaeological display of the Phoenician/Roman fish salting plant dating back to abt. 750 BCE.

We gound this lovley little oasis while walking in the old town, it is a very small park with sculptures in between palm trees and some unusual plants and small bridge over the old Roman ruins. It has some lovely shady place to stop and rest as well as some local artists and crafts shops.

A wise range of interesting trees with amazing sculpture around the park - the artists seem to all be Syrian and the work all in stone - absolutely beautiful. It was right next door to the interesting Fish Salting Factory

This park is a hidden gem just some hundred meters from the sea promenade along San Cristóbal. It offers varied and lush vegetation, really interesting sculptures of recent date, some shops with genuine handicraft and an ancient archeological site - the remnants from the fish salting factory which dates from Roman times. No entrance fee. Well worth a visit!

Take a stroll through here at any time , day or night and experience the charm of it. There are Roman salt factory ruins, wonderful trees, plants and sculptures which are captivating. At the entrance is a bar/restaurant that seems always busy at night and several structures housing crafts for purchases of gifts. I loved these gardens , very intimate and lovely to wander via the town and to the beach. They are free to visit and you can pay to go into the Bonsai gardens.
