This is kind of a hidden gem, as it is wonderful for sunrise or sun set. It is tucked away in a residential neighborhood, so not such easy access or parking. You may also park at the ermita below and then hike up and climb stairs too. It is a great spot to go do some yoga or just take photos. the access is really the only down side.

It can be a little tricky finding your way here, but the views are stunning once you do. You can either hike up from the hermitage or find your way through a neighborhood to get there. You can't go in the lighthouse, but there is a decent plaza outside of it. Great place to meditate or do yoga.

We went there by car. The road is not easy, but it is rewarded with the sight of the whole bay. Do not miss it

This lighthouse offers great views over the bay of Almunecar.
On my visit in february the area was filled with flowering cistus-roses and mimosa.
Around the lighthouse there are more viewpoints offering views over the bay of La Herradura{the horseshoe bay}.
Punta De La Mona offers a lovely pebble beach situated between rocky shores next to the marina. Most of the peninsula is a gated community and residential area featuring large villa's.Near the lighthouse is a large hotel and the "camino de los pescadores" footpath connecting both bays.

Amazing view from the highest point on Punta de La Mona with the beacon standing tall over Marina del Este and La Herradura. Fantastic view

Rather difficult to find, but what a view! Coming from Almuñecar, follow the arrows to "Torre". You will see the faro, thanks to a modern antenna, close to it.

The walk to the lighthouse from the beach is not for the faint hearted or unfit, particularly in the heat of the day, but the views when you get there ars stunning.
To the east you can see all along the coast and past Motril. To the West Malaga looms in the distance. Early evening, when the sun is setting and the towns etc along the coast switch on their lights, is our favourite time to view.
There is enough parking space by the lighthouse for about 3/4 cars. From the beach keep going right at all the turns until you get nearly to the top and the roads bends sharp left. Carry on for about 200 yards and the road swings right and upwards. Take the turn, follow the road and then take the first right at the very top. Then its about 100 yards walk to the foot of the tower.
Best photos to the East in the morning and the West in the afternoon. Recommended.

At the top of a large urbanisation the Punta de la Mona this is a small lighthouse. There are some good views but it is not worth a special visit.

On Camino de la Torre you walk on the hightest point de la Mona, and you will have a wonderful view over the sea and La Herdura; nice vegetation; the Faro is a place to visit
and also to see the nice villas in this area.
