About
Sierra Nevada is the southernmost ski resort in Europe and the highest in Spain with a minimum height of 2,100m, where the Pradollano urbanization is located (being the highest urban nucleus in Andalusia) and a maximum height of 3,300m, its highest peak is Veleta which stands at 3,398m being the fourth highest summit in Spain only behind Teide (Tenerife), Mulhacén (Sierra Nevada) and Aneto (Pyrenees). It is located in the Sierra Nevada natural park and belongs to the municipality of Monachil in the province of Granada. One of its main characteristics is its good climate, the geographical situation in which it is found makes the Sun and good weather predominate and thanks to its high altitude the fallen snow is preserved, sometimes from the beginning of autumn until well into spring . Its more than 107kms of skiable terrain make Sierra Nevada one of the largest resorts in Spain and the Iberian Peninsula, making Sierra Nevada one of the preferred destinations for all lovers of skiing.

- FoundationGirlBasildon, United Kingdom31 contributionsSpectacular viewsAbsolutely stunning area with breath taking views of snow on mountains set against blue sky and sunshine (on most days.). Stayed in ski resort to enjoy the area and take in some skiing. Only a couple of hours from the coast too.Visited March 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten March 13, 2024
- Annette M20 contributionsChange of SceneryNice change of scenery from the Costa del Sol where we were staying for 6 weeks. We stayed overnight in Granada to give us time to explore Granada (wonderful city). We caught the bus from there to Pradollano to the ski resort. The bus journey took around an hour and the scenery was fabulous. We are non-skiers who went to enjoy the views. Easy to take the gondola up to the ski station (choice of 2 gondolas) where you can sit on the roof terrace and enjoy a meal and something to drink whilst watching the world ski and snowboard past. Loads of good restaurants and bars to visit in Pradollano before getting the bus back to Granada, and from there for us the train to Malaga and back to our apartment.Visited February 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten April 14, 2024
- David VToronto, Canada5 contributionsSierra Nevada Ski Trip As familyWe visited Sierra Nevada for a family skiing trip, and while it had its moments, it didn’t quite live up to the hype. The resort is undeniably scenic, with stunning mountain views and relaxed vibe. The beginner slopes were great for our kids, and the ski school instructors were friendly and helpful, which made the experience enjoyable for them. However wee found the resort to be quite crowded, even during what we thought would be a quieter time. The lift lines were longer than expected, and some of the slopes felt overcrowded, which took away from the overall experience. The facilities were decent, but the food options were overpriced and underwhelming. While the resort has potential, it felt bit disorganized, and the lack of variety in slopes made it less exciting for more experienced skiers in our group. It’s a decent spot for families with young kids or beginners, but it might not fully satisfy those looking for a more dynamic skiing experience.Visited November 2024Traveled with familyWritten January 9, 2025

We are trapped here for two days now (Jan 22 & 23, 2020), because all the lifts are closed. They say it is due to strong wind. Well, we can not feel any wind today, and for sure, the lower lifts are absolutely safe to run. Instead, they announce at 9 that maybe they will open at 10, at 10 - that maybe at 11, and so on, to finally announce at 1 that they will not. Crowds of ready-to-ski tourists are trapped in the small city of Pradollano, with practically no opportunity to do anything apart from eating and drinking. There is just one bus out, just at 9:00, that is the time that you need to find out whether they will open it, or not. See the photos to judge the weather conditions yourself. PS. Normally, this place is beautiful. We had been there 2 years before, and we loved it. What has happened in the meantime???

They concentrate so much on saving money that they leave people nailed down with an expensive fart pass. They don't open the tracks when they're beautiful, they're only used by the mongrels. They also avoid opening chairlifts, thus letting people accumulate in some of them. They waste time and money. Bad organization.
Those who work on the beginner's chairlift have a terrible deal, no patience - they speak badly and shout at children and adults who are trying to start and learn.

While te slopes are good, the place seems to attract primarily foul-mouthed and bratty youngsters. People push and shove and while waiting in line you will have to endure the foul language of the ones around. As you make your way to the slopes in the morning, you will have to mind the amount of plastic, broken glasses, bottles and wrapping left everywhere. Please don't think this review is the result of one bad morning, it was an every day occurrence. It is a real shame as people in restaurants, hotels, stations, ski rentals and ski schools are incredibly friendly. This place just gave is a good parallel to spring breakers in Cancun.

The area is not that large but adequate for the 4 days I was here. There are a reasonable variety of runs of all descriptions, though their grading is somewhat suspect. Some of the reds were equally as steep as their blacks. The area at the top of the 2 access gondolas, 1 with seats the other just standing, is a beginners dream. Wide open gentle slopes for the wary or newbies to practice on. Large crowds are to be expected at the weekends as many people come up just for a day or two. Most of the chairlifts are quite old and some very slow others just slow. It does need some investment in infrastructure to bring it up to modern standards.

After they closed the station yesterday, today they have opened 25 km, they charge the same as if they were with the 100 km☹️And in any case it is not understood why they open the Movistar chair and do not open Stadium which has a similar height or the Dilar hill which is lower. It is also not understandable because they have only opened one cable car in the morning, creating some monumental queues... I am very afraid, that tomorrow the same or worse

50% of the tracks were closed by insufficient snow but even with this issue, the park is amazing, nice landscapes... you can see the Mediterranean when you are in the highest point, it is incredible. The lifts are a little bit slow and there were a looooot of people (I was there the last December week).
It is a place to explore always when you have a lot of snow. Recommended to family and also to those don't like ski/snowboard.

This place was truly amazing and beautiful. Way better than anything I excepted since you see no snow while driving up. The mountain was clean and the lifts and every thing ran smoothly. It also was extremely cheap to many ski resorts in the US and around Europe. Defiantly \ sill come back and stay in the cute little town

Cetursa charges €60 for a one-day ski pass with a total of 10% (15 km out of a total of 150 km) of skiable length at the Sierra Nevada resort. The same as if the 150 km were open. It doesn't seem fair. Less if we also add that one of the two lifts from Pradollano to Borreguiles (the Al-Andalus cable car) was broken for several hours and everyone went to the other (Borreguiles cable car), collapsing it. A complete scam.

I can only say that I do not recommend this ski resort at all, the organization is terrible, the school teachers do not have direct passes to the cable cars, you pay for classes to be in line. The lines are more than an hour long to board sheep.
I don't recommend it at all, closed cable cars with kilometer long queues but they are interested in collecting the ski pass.
Last year we went to Andorra, this year we wanted to change and the experience has been horrible, a shame, because it had just snowed and the slopes were good and the views are incredible.
The problem is that there is a BAD ORGANIZATION and they do not know how to take care of what they have.

A scam, they have had people queuing for hours with the expectation of opening the station, while they continued selling ski passes, they finally open so they don't have to return the ski passes. The children couldn't access the station and now the schools don't want to return the money. People were sneaking in everywhere. Then when they open, although there are slopes and lifts that are apparently perfect, they don't open them, having everyone in the stadium and in the sheep area with an excess of capacity that makes you wait an hour in line to go up. ONE SCAM, 60 BUCKS TWO DOWNLOADS

Hi there,
How many skiing days do you recommend? We are a Danish family of 4 people. Our children are 8 and 11.
We ski every year for 1 week in mostly France and our level is a little above average for a Danish family.
Kind regards Søren

I would say 5-7 days! Big area with super skiing conditions here (we are a swedish family with two kids 7 & 9 years - staying here for 5 days). We enjoy every minute!
250 days with sunshine/year! Great!
