A history of this park shows that it was a community of 8 smaller neighbourhoods that stood up to Metropolitan Atlanta's wish to build yet another major road . Political sympathisers were mobilised and even though around 600 dwellings had been bought and bulldozed the communities actions saw through and the barren area was landscaped rather than asphalted . nice park that provides stunning views of the city skyline. seemed like a safe park. kids enjoyed running around the place.

A very nice area for families, kids had a really nice time, we were there for about 3 hours and it was very enjoyable.

Freedom Park offers a very nice view of Atlanta's skyline from the east. If you want a safe place to take that iconic Atlanta skyline photo, then take the one block walk over to Jackson Street to the Jackson Street bridge. There you will get a splendid view of the city. We have been walking using Freedom Park for the past couple of years now since we walk our dog daily. This is a fantastic park with great paved walkways & nice greenery, and it connects to great neighborhoods. It also connects to the Beltline's Eastside trail.
