I was REALLY happy to get out and walk in Piedmont Park. Except, it was SO CROWDED that we had to really work at staying 6 feet away from anybody! We couldn't enjoy ourselves with the volume of walkers and runners, so we stayed to the edges of the Park and made it a relatively short visit. We had so many people to avoid, most without any kind of face covering, that I could not take many photos. People are so disappointing.

Piedmont Park is one of Atlanta's icon parks. you can always find a wonderful festival on the weekend or live music from time to time.
During the summer they have Screen on the Green, where you can watch movies. Also yearly they have the Piedmont Dogwood Arts Festival.
If you have a favorite puppy, make sure you bring him or her out to the dog park. It's one of the most wonderful dog parks in the city. They have a separate small park for small dogs and a much larger one for your pup to run and play!

The park is ok in size and the lake area looks beautiful but in August 2024 the main park was very run down. Kids play areas plus steps up to them were overgrown and dangerous. The verges throughout the park were scrubby, weedy and covered with both dog poo and litter. (lots of dog walkers so lots of poo piles not picked up despite bins and signs). We went August 24th , peak holiday season and yet there were NO toilet facilities open in the park. Above the (closed) men's toilet was a sort of pergola area but this was full of half comatose druggies so not welcoming at all. It's a shame that the park isn't managed that well as we could see that it was once glorious but I am not sugar coating the reality of it in 2024.

It was January, and cold... however, I have been here in the spring and it is lush, beautiful and full of life. It was fairly busy for a chilly weekday in January. The park is nestled in the city/busy burbs of Atlanta. There were people walking, talking and taking their pooches for a stroll. It has a fun vibe, even with everyone bundled. If you are a park person, check it out.

Very nice park, lots of people walking around. The walk around the lake was very pretty and easy so anyone can do it. It was fun to walk to the park highlights and they were very pretty to see the Atlanta skyline is the background

Having just moved to the area, I’d heard all the rave about Piedmont Park and was excited for my first visit. My son and I parked and walked around near dusk, getting in a good bit of exercise and marveling at how beautiful the park must be when everything is green. We loved walking around the lake and the swimming pool area too. How fortunate we are to have this park in the city!

Was walking the beltline and came upon this large urban park. It was great weather so lots of people with dogs just lounging around enjoying their time. Great for people watching and just being in the city. It’s not so much a tourist attraction but a place to be a part of the city.

A total Gem! The grounds are very expansive with something for everyone including walking/biking trails, lake views, and athletic fields. A perfect place for a picnic or to layout with a book. We learned that they offer weekend markets, classes, volunteer opportunities, and tours. It seems like such a labor of love for those who work and recreate there. Very special!

We booked onto a free tour one Saturday morning. It was great because there was a food market going on! They do have parking in the park but the day we went they had a race on and so weren’t able to park there but there are a few other car parks near by.
The tour was super.
It is not a strenuous walk and the guide was really careful not to stand in the sun and instead find the shade! We learnt about the ownership of the park and what it used to be and how the park has changed over the years.
I wouldn’t have learnt all of the this was it not for the tour.

My daughter, wife and I were visiting Atlanta for the Thanksgiving holiday and decided we needed some exercise. Piedmont Park was a short walk from our hotel, so we spent about 1.5 hours walking around. I liked walking around the pond, and watching people playing volleyball, and there were plenty of paths to choose from. A little more green would have been nice, but at the end of a dry November, browned grass was to be expected.
All in all, this was a pleasant way to spend some time on a holiday morning.

Hi, planning on stopping for a run. Are there places to shower in the park afterwards? Thanks, John

I was there in November so I do not know if they are closed due to the Covid situation. I would recommend checking the Atlanta Parks website.

I am sorry the "manager" ? Of the park or of a stand ?

Is there any free parking at/near the park? We are going to visit on a weekday, after the Magnolia festival is over so hoping we can park close for a short walk/visit. Good location for metered or lot parking if nothing free is available? Thank you

On weekday you should not have any problem finding street parking on the neighborhood streets around the park. Street along Monroe near 10th St probably the easiest and most accessible to the park and Beltline. If all else fails, the parking garage in the botanical gardens is directly connected to the park. The Garden is closed on Mondays in case you want to visit.

Which hotel allowed you to borrow bikes? Any suggestion about the biking trails in Atlanta? I usually can do about 25 miles. My husband can ride forever. Any nice scenic routes?Any information is deeply appreciated.

Hi! There are several good biking trails. The Silver Comet Trail in Smyrna is a great one that goes all the way to Alabama! The Big Creek Greenway in Alpharetta has a nice trail as well. Those are the two I would recommend!

Is this within walking distance to the GA Aquarium and/or Centennial Park?
Written March 19, 2017
No you would need to drive from what I remember. Beautiful place. The aquarium is awesome. Also for the aquarium park in the left across the street for like $5.

Plan on traveling to Atlanta in May 2017 and wanted to know the food situation in Midtown particularly around the Botanical Gardens - The restaurant LONGLEAF doesn't have enough information/photos of food (and menu seems a little pretentious) and I am concerned it won't be worth the money & time,,, I also wanted to know if there are any good food trucks, concession stands, and/or restaurants that are worth going to in Piedmont Park - We plan on staying local in the earlier part of the day and traveling to Buckhead for the evening to shop & dine...

There are several good restaurants nearby the park. Joes on Juniper, Einsteins on Juniper , Flying Biscuit
