$8 to See the View

Great views for less than many observation decks. Technically this is a cover charge for the bar, but there'sno drink minimum. Reservations are recommended for peak times in the (pricey) restaurant.

Nice View
Oct 2019
We had some free time while visiting Atlanta and were looking for something fun to do. We decided to try going up to the Sundial Restaurant observation level at the Westin Hotel. For $8 you get to ride an elevator up to the top of the tallest building in Atlanta and experience some pretty good views.

The view was actually better than expected. Because central Georgia is very flat, you can see for very long distances. You can see the new Falcons Stadium, Centennial Olympic Park, and even all the way to Stone Mountain. That being said, the view can also be a bit dull as there is not much to see outside Atlanta.

I do think it was worth going up to the observation level. However, the price seems a little bit high to ride an elevator up, look around, and the ride it back down.

Not for special occasions

So we went for my friend’s birthday... service is T E R R I B LE ... maybe because we are young ? Like 22 years old? But that doesn’t give them the right to treat us like shtt literally, they were very rude. We went there to spend a nice dinner... from the hostess in the 5th floor to the waiters... Food is not good , at least I didn’t like it neither my friends, but it was big plates. The only good thing is the view they have from the city and the music in live. We were dressed properly.

When I found out it 's only $8 to go up to the sundial I decided it was a much better deal then riding the ferris wheel. It was breathtaking!

I went up to the sun dial observation level today and was very pleased for my $8. It’s is primarily a posh restaurant but for $8 you can go up and enjoy the view. There is nothing much up there but well worth the look. 30 mins entertainment.

Didn't eat at the restaurant, but had to take in this beautiful view. It did not disappoint. I was even able to see planes landing at the airport which was pretty cool. If you're staying here you might as well take the quick ride to the top and enjoy the view.

Went to the observation deck on a whim. It was a beautiful and clear day and you could see Atlanta for miles. There are a few telescopes. I liked that some where on the level for a child to look through. It cost $8 for adults and $4 for kids. The view was amazing. It was a nice experience for my child.

The views from the Sun Dial is impressive. It has amazing views of the city. We were having dinner there so there was no charge for us. heard there was if you don't want a drink or food. Not sure how much the charge is but if is low it is worth it. Also if you stay at the hotel there is no charge. Take a ton of photos.

The best views over the city

If you are a resident it is free to visit the 72nd floor Sun Dial restaurant, bar and observation deck on top of the Westin Peachtree Plaza hotel but if you are not, and just want to view and not eat or drink you must pay a $8 fee per person. The views are worth it. We were just in town for a few hours so it was the perfect way to see the place! You access from a lower ground level (one floor below reception) elevator, just in front of the gift shop. The restaurant does not rotate anymore but the viewing area is one flight of stairs above this, and has many areas where you can get close to the exterior glass (not quite as close as the Ferris Bueller visit to the Hancock Tower in Chicago!) and many of these areas also have free telescopes to use to zoom in on the views below. Definitely recommended!
