Located in the heart of the downtown, Underground Atlanta is one of the city’s favorite attractions and a cultural hub. Opened in 1969 as a “city beneath the streets,” Underground Atlanta still exhibits many of the significant architectural features from its original structure. Yes, Underground is a little dark and spooky and needs an overhaul (I suppose), but it's a must see. I went just to take pictures in case it doesn't re-open. Now that the Braves... read more

This was definitely a strange place but still oddly amusing and I'm glad we got to see it. I wouldn't recommend it for shopping or spending tons of time, but it does have interesting architecture and a nice concept. I would suggest popping by for about 10-15 minutes if you're already in the area.

This was not the best part of downtown to be in. There were minimal shopping stores that were too Unreliable if you ask me. I parked above in a deck for $4, and left after 10 minutes. Do not go alone, and maybe you'll even seen a bunch of cops there, just don't waste your time. You'll know why.

1st had to almost fight our way out of the gated parking lot. Groups of men standing around trying to get people to gamble. Smelled strongly of weed. As a single mom with two kids I was very uncomfortable. The need to monitor this area closely. When we made it out of the lot and to the Underground area it... More

Yes, Underground is a little dark and spooky and needs an overhaul (I suppose), but it's a must see. I went just to take pictures in case it doesn't re-open. Now that the Braves have moved, no more running through to catch the Braves bus. :( It's a part of Atlanta history so I sincerely hope that not only is... More

This was a very disappointing outing. We went going to pass a little time on a rainy afternoon. But I wouldn't recommend for anyone to go there. It's a scary neighborhood. Questionable characters all around. Everywhere smelled like urine. In the "shopping area" itself, there are probably less than 50% of the store spaces occupied. The stores that are there... More

I was broken hearted to take my family to this landmark after all of the build up and hype I had put out there referring to my last visit here! OMG, upon arrival, it was as if a balloon was being deflated! I wanted to run through the streets like the movie "A Wonderful Life" yelling - WHAT HAPPENED?!? It's... More

Been to several cities with underground malls. This one is second only to the one in Montreal. Good place to visit.

It needs redevelopment. It's a disappointment for the tourist traveler and Atlanta local alike. But there is value in the history of the tiered urban space with 19th century architectural remnants. Sadly the history of Underground Atlanta will be forever destroyed with the new development soon to demolish this endangered historic place. If you want the true South Downtown experience,... More

This place has nearly everything you can imagine. Clothes, videos, jewelry, foods, sweets, perfumes, candles and more! I enjoy being underground. I love haggling. Gives one that true market feel. I really want to give this place a 3.5. The vendors and stores are decent. It's just the surrounding area. I won't come near without my CCDW permit. Area doesn't... More
