incredible facility in impeccable shape. The GM Charles V was on the course tending to all the upkeep. He even stopped to give a private lesson on exiting the trap! that was a turning point for me on the course!

Visited the country club for a families wedding, it was wonderful place and the food was excellent and the fall season made the best back drop for pictures.

This is an awesome course and in great condition. The stream that wanders through the course makes it difficult to judge distances.

We were greeted immediately upon arrival and our cart came with ice water and towels! Very friendly staff!!

Highly recommend this course but be advised that if it is a warm day it can be a bit buggy so bring your bug spray.

Thank you for the very kind review of your experience at our Woodstock Country Club earlier in September! We’re very proud of the Robert Trent Jones, Sr. course and the way our team has improved it over the past several years, trimming and replacing many of the more mature trees to return it to the course Jones had in mind. It’s in terrific condition and while we’ll be putting the course to bed for the winter in a month or so, we loo forward to even greater improvement in 2020! Thank you also for mentioning the service you received. At The Woodstock Inn & Resort we believe the expertise and genuine warmth of the team make all the difference, and The Club, rated #1 for service in New England, is as good an example as you’ll find anywhere! We look forward to seeing you again next spring, or perhaps this winter for a little cross country skiing, snowshoeing, or fat-tire cycling at The Nordic Center, which takes over the area surrounding the course and the beautiful Mount Peg Preserve as soon as the flakes start flying! Very truly yours, Rick Reno, Resort Training Manager

Woodstock Country Club is part of the Woodstock Inn property in the Vermont town of the same name. It is situated just outside town, and is a well-kept property. However, that is where its resemblance to a user-friendly golf course ends. Many of the holes are highly risk/no reward situations. You cannot hit a full tee shot off the tee because you will be in one of the many high grown areas of rough that dot the course, or in the meandering river that runs all through the holes - sometimes the same hole twice. This would not in itself be so daunting. But there are not bail-out spots on many holes - the precise shot MUST be played as you have no other choice. For instance on one par four from an elevated tee, a normal drive will take you across the small landing area in the fairway (which you reach by carrying a large waste area) and if you are successful you face a 200+ yard shot up a steep mountain, rising at least fifty or more feet above you. Again, with no room for error. I played with two excellent golfers, both of whom were abashed at the unfairness of the shots called for, so I feel vindicated in voicing my opinion here. It just was not fun to play the course, I would not play again, and I would recommend you not play it either. Sounds rather harsh, but life is too short to drink bad wine or play bad golf courses. I'm in my 70s, have a 20 hdcp, hit my drives about 200yds. and a seven iron about 135-140. I'm not a sometimes golfer, as many of the players from the Woodstock Inn probably are, and it must be really hard for them. I would definitely look elsewhere for my golf in this area.

Friendly staff but not a very good golf course. Very tight, zig zag course with poorly maintained fairways, rough and greens. The fairways were in very poor condition with many unrepaired divots and the rough was unmowed and like US Open height. Balls were easily lost in the rough just off the fairways. The greens were slow, uninteresting and needed maintenance. Most holes were very uninteresting - just straight ahead. Almost all of the green side bunkers had bees with nests in the sand.

We played Killington Golf Course which was much nicer and recommended.

Thank you for joining us at Woodstock Country Club this summer. I am sorry to learn that you were disappointed in the layout and condition of the course. Our course is a classic early Robert Trent Jones Sr. design, and quite challenging in spite of its relatively short distance. As you know, the past two summer shave been very busy, with golf being one of the few pastimes people feel comfortable pursuing, and I’m afraid July and August were very challenging for us in terms of weather. The course has held up well, we think, and I hope you’ll visit again to spend another relaxing morning or afternoon traversing the magical Kedron Valley. Please also consider visiting the Woodstock Inn & Resort web site to learn abut our terrific specials and packages, many of which include unlimited golf and other terrific amenities! Respectfully, Rick Reno, Resort Training Manager

Probably one of the worst lunches I have ever had. My lobster roll had almost more celery than lobster. The lobster meat was knuckle meat only no claw or tail meat. The roll was dry as a bone. Summer slaw had absolutely no dressing just cabbage. Mixed greens that were supposed to be on the plate weren't there. Fruit had a refrigerator taste to it. We asked for more water but it never arrived. Decor is absolutely outdated.

Thank you for joining us for lunch in The Fairway Grill during your recent visit to Woodstock and sharing you impressions. Needless to say we are surprised and distressed to learn of your unpleasant experience, and I apologize that we let you down. I am sure you realize this is not typical of our service, and in fact we generally receive very positive feedback from our guests. it is important that you know we appreciate your feedback and take it very seriously. We are following up with our team and your generosity in sharing will certainly help us continue to improve our guests’ experiences at Woodstock Country Club and throughout our resort. We look forward to the opportunity to welcome you to Woodstock again soon; treat you to an experience more in line with your expectations; and regaining some lost trust. Welcoming staff, course seems easy, but lots of streams and water to catch your golf balls. It is easy to walk in relatively good shape. They accommodated children. We enjoyed the openness of the course and had a fun day on a glorious 70 degree day!

Thank you for the wonderful review of your recent golf outing at The Woodstock Country Club. We’re delighted that you enjoyed a great day out, and especially that our team at The Club made you feel welcome and appreciated. The course is in terrific condition this summer and we’re looking forward to another beautiful season of fall golf, which we hope will last through the end of October and maybe even beyond, before winter arrives and we turn our attention to other outdoor fun! We are proud to have been named the #1 course in New England by Golf Advisor, and consider ourselves very fortunate to be the stewards of this magnificent Robert Trent Jones, Sr. course. It’s a real classic course, and much more challenging than its 6000 yards and par 70 might lead you to believe! Thank you again, and please do consider our wonderful golf and lodging packages when planning your next trip! Yours truly, Rick Reno, Resort Training Manager

The setting is beautiful, the clubhouse is worn and torn. Absolutely nothing notable. Needs a rehab in the worst way. Quinoa in salads was sparse. Must have run out. Proteins cooked correctly. No rolls or bread served or offered. Out of deserts except for anemic ice cream offerings. Server was polite and had a smile. To sum it up, this place has potential but needs management and a cash infusion.

Thank you for visiting The Woodstock Country Club and joining us for lunch at The Fairway Grill. I’m happy to hear you enjoyed the beautiful surroundings, though very sorry that your meal itself did not live up to your expectations. Many of our guests, Club members, and local golfers think highly of The Grill, and I hope you understand that your experience was more an exception than the rule. I realize this will not alter your experience, but please know that we do appreciate your sharing and I have forwarded your observations to our Food and Beverage team. They are always appreciative and always looking for ways to improve the experiences we offer; thank you for providing us with concrete, actionable suggestions! I do hope you’ll visit Woodstock again soon, and consider dining with us again either at The Club or in one of the terrific restaurants at The Woodstock Inn. Please do call us if we can assist with suggestions or arrangements, whether for lunch, dinner, some very unusual activities; of perhaps accommodations at The Inn! Very warm regards, Rick Reno, Resort Training Manager

This course is mainly a valley course with elevation changes on a few holes. What made this course interesting is that there is water in front of 12 or the 18 holes. You either go for it or lay up, depending on where you are and your confidence level. It is a fun course to play.

Thanks for joining us at The Woodstock Country Club recently and sharing your nice review! The course is in terrific condition, and a wonderful example of what makes Robert Trent Jones Sr. courses so challenging and entertaining. It rewards good course management and plays much tougher than its modest length would seem to indicate… and of course the fabled Kedron Brook is nearly a constant companion and a reminder to play intelligently! I do hope you’ll be able to return soon, and encourage you to investigate some of our lodging and golf packages at The Woodstock Inn & Resort! Play well! Rick Reno, Resort Training Manager

I visited the Woodstock country club to play golf with a great friend. As soon as we arrived, two of the gentlemen who work in the golf course came to greet us and offer their help. It is a fabulous course with fabulous professionals ready to help any time and with anything that you may need. I am looking forward to visiting again when the leaves will have changed colors. It must be superb!

Thank you for joining us for a great round of golf at Woodstock Country Club and sharing the kind words about our team! The course is in terrific condition this summer and we’re glad you enjoyed it. We hope to be open through October and it is indeed spectacular during foliage season. We are fortunate to be surrounded by land that Mr. Rockefeller bought and preserved many years ago, which keeps Woodstock Country Club a little oasis protected from development. We hope you’ll visit again soon, and encourage you to visit the Woodstock Inn & Resort web site to learn about the wonderful packages and specials we offer throughout the year to add value to your next visit! Warm regards, Rick Reno, Resort Training Manager
