There are a few covered bridges. Very pretty and unique. Everyone tries to get the pictures with out a tourist or another car. Very hard to do. But very fun driving across the bridge. Ten points to anyone who can tell me why they paint the bridges red!!

This is a beautifully maintained bridge - too bad it is right next a huge electric power grid with lots of wires and towers.

Loved driving along the road and coming upon the bright red covered bridge. It was just so pretty with the water and the surrounding area. Great place to pull over and take a few photos.

You can just walk across and enjoy the construction of the bridge as well as the river scenery. A very pretty location.

From Route 4 on your way north to Woodstock, VT, you travel thru Taftsville and will come upon this dramatic, striking, red covered bridge that sits over a waterfall. The river that feeds it is at times calm and mirror-like and at other times, is raging and a bit scary. Either way, The Taftsville Bridge is iconic. It's stood the test of time (Google Hurricane Irene) and remains one of the prettiest covered bridges you'll see in VT. Or anywhere. Year-round it's a photographer's dream. It's a must do.

This is one of the many covered bridges we saw during our two night stay in Woodstock VT, while road tripping around New England. We stayed at The Woodstock Inn and asked if they had a map showing where the bridges are. They gave us a map and also outlined a nice self guided tour for us to go on. It's a beautiful drive with lots of photo opps as well! Helpful tip! All the bridges were easy to find except the Lincoln covered bridge. It wasn't easy for us to find at first. To find it, look up the Lincoln House Inn at Covered Bridge and use their address, you come to and have to cross the bridge to get to that Inn!

This bridge spans the Ottaqueeche River and was closed for 2 years after Hurricane Irene. It is easily recognizable when you round the corner of Rt 4 into Taftsville. The red color really stands out and it is an active traffic bridge. From Rt 4 cross over the bridge and take an immediate left for a terrific ride along the river.

Nice view of an old covered bridge. Worth a stop if you can find a place to park. Nice trail down to the water. Great spot for a picture.

It's not just any old covered bridge; it is an amazing feat of wooden engineering and the 2nd longest in Vermont! You have to stop and walk though it and read about both the bridge and the hydroelectric dam! The drive along VT 4 is so beautiful, and this is one of the jewels in the crown.

Great covered bridge to see with a wonderful damn/waterfall by it. Great views and easy to find. Park along the gravel road or areas provided. There’s an area you can walk down by the creek. Very pretty.

What’s the width and height of this bridge, wondering if our motorhome will go through

As always, caution is advised when traveling with your home on your back. Considering that these wooden bridges were designed for nineteenth century vehicles and traffic, check the local signage posted nearby. Best wishes and safe traveling to you.
