Amazing views and fun hike
Nov 2019 • Couples
We took this fun hike on a rainy day and enjoy a private view from the top. It was quite slippery but worth it! Very beautiful. Not recommended for anyone with mobility issues as it is a moderate hike.

Worth the climb for the views
Oct 2019
We took a day trip from Ronda to walk around town and mainly walk up to the castle to get views of the reservoir and countryside. Definitely worth the trip - the 40 minute drive was beautiful, as are the views from the castle. A steep walk and often no railings. Very few people were there so a nice uncrowded visit.

Magical views
Aug 2019
we went in the heat of an august lunch time so didn't walk all the way up to the top but still the views are pretty epic. Next time we are in the area I think I would stay a night in the village and head up the mountain in the evening or early so the heat doesn't beat me!

The views are worth the climb

We spotted this on our way from Grazalema and decided to check it out. We had parked on the edge of town and walked. It took us a little while before we actually found ourselves in the town 'square' where there is a church and a sign pointing to the castle. You can drive part way up but parking is limited.
I don't recall having to pay anything, but do recall a few steep steps and walkways on the way up. You can go up onto the top where you can view the lake and surrounding district as well as looking down on the little village below.
We wandered back down after and ate lunch at one of the many cafes there. Take your pic, they all looked great!
The town is quite cute as well, and worth a wander through.

Hard climb but wonderful views
Jun 2019 • Couples
To get to the castle you head up from the main square, Plaza Mayor, past the Church of Santa Maria de la Maza, up the hill and the path to the castle is at the top of the hill on the right.

Its a very steep hard climb up to the Castle, there is a path all the way, some stone steps and railings for part of the way.

There is very little left of the castle but the views are amazing.

You can go inside the keep which is well preserved and climb the internal stairs to the top to get an even better view. But you need a torch as the narrow stairs have no natural light.

A tseep hike, but worth it
May 2019 • Friends
Multiple steep cobblestone paths lead up to this medeival castle atop the cliff-girt promontory high above the town. The castle commands panoramic views, and you can go in and wander around the rooms, and stairways, and access the roof, without an entrance fee (be careful, it's dark in some of the stairwells). There is an interpretive center built on the walls of an old church, which has older Roman-era ruins beneath it, revealed through plexiglas flooring, and an instructive timeline of human history in the area going back to Neeolithic dolmens. Worth the trip!

Honest Review
Oct 2018 • Family
We arrived after 5pm and the light was great for taking photos. It is a steep walk up to the small castle, but the view is well worth it. There are a few bars and shops in the village. A good way to spend the afternoon here.
