Spectacular visit, not to miss. Super well-preserved house with a total decoration of the season. Very rich expo in sight: paintings, furniture and decoration and even a small but fantastic costume exhibition! It is so welcoming that it seems that the family there lives on a daily basis. It transports us to a stunning era, which has long not existed but that immerses us in “dreaming” with it. Congratulations to the family who so well keeps this house and beautiful gardens and allows us to “live” a bit of it. The guide, Joana is very friendly and communicative. Thank you for sharing this heritage with me! I loved it.

The impression that Nelson and my friend Arrelindo and Maria José were left with from the visit we made on June 17th to the Palácio dos Condes de Anadia in Mangualde, could not be better. We start by visiting the Palace with its splendid tile panels representing various facets of universal culture; from Greek culture with its mythology, which has survived as a symbol of culture for more than twenty-five centuries, through European representations of the Middle Ages and modern ages and complemented with panels representing hunting and agricultural activities practiced in the forest and farms of counts. Completing the decoration of the walls are countless richly framed portraits representing, the vast majority, illustrious people from the families of the Sá de Anadia (Counts of Anadia) and the Pais do Amaral de Mangualde. The only room that deviates from this decoration is the magnificent dining room whose walls are painted with still lifes matching the food. Some of the ceilings, which are not blank, such as the one in the dining room, are covered with beautiful paintings. We can also see a beautiful gilded table with a tile panel top, in the living room; beautiful pieces of furniture; beautiful tapestries; pieces of decorative crockery, dinnerware and other types of crockery pieces of great beauty and great utility, all with great taste. We then visited the gardens. The palace gardens are one of those places privileged by nature, a pleasant and delightful place, where the centuries-old trees, the plants, the various places of retreat, the air you breathe... everything is in gentle and perfect harmony. There is like a symmetry of colors, of disposition in everything that is seen and felt, that it seems nothing more than that peace, health, tranquility of the spirit and rest of the heart lived there... a reign of love and benevolence. There you can imagine the Eden that the first man inhabited with his innocence and the virginity of his heart. Certainly there will still be those who enjoy all that beauty... those who enjoy and know how to enjoy all the peaceful pleasure, all the holy joys of the soul that seem to be fluttering around them. We returned with a unique idea in mind, that we will return, perhaps accompanied by other friends who are not familiar with those wonders. Nelson Cerveira

The palace is spectacular from the moment you are greeted by the wonderful staircase decorated with impressive tiles. Ana has explained to us wonderfully in Spanish the history of the palace and its inhabitants. Her partner (I am very sorry not to know her name), although she does not speak Spanish, has been very interested in assisting us perfectly with everything we have required. A very nice visit.!!!
Estimado Sr./Sra.

Great visit. We did the palace tour and the garden walk. Our tour guide, Ana, was wonderful. She was very informative, kept the visit at a good pace and encouraged questions. In this respect, it was much better than other palaces / castles we have seen. Make sure you are there 5 minutes prior to your visit’s start time. We also walked through the gardens and took nice pictures. And, they also have wine bottles for sale at reasonable prices. Overall, loved it. I would recommend for sure.
Dear Sir/Madam Thank you very much for your positive comment. It makes us very happy when visitors enjoy getting to know our Palace - it's our main goal on every visit. We hope to see you again on your next visit for a wine tasting in our cellar. See you soon! Cordially, Reservations Team

We really enjoyed our tour. Our guide spoke English and gave us a detailed history of the palace and its contents. The gardens were a little disappointing, and we felt the experience could have benefitted from a café or restaurant, but aside from this, it was wonderful. The views from the garden were stunning.
Dear Madam Carol, Good afternoon, Thank you in advance for choosing to visit the Palácio dos Condes de Anadia. Your comment is relevant in that it allows us to believe that our work is being noticed and valued by all those who visit the Palace of the Counts of Anadia. We share the history of the Palace every day, and being able to experience these stories with people like you is even more rewarding. Thank you for your interest and your visit to our Palace. We went to the palace last July and the truth that we were with Ana who made the experience very good since in the guided tour we had planned it was done exclusively for us since the rest of the visitors were not in Spanish. The truth is that they adapted very well to our language and it is to be appreciated because the guided tour was very interesting, enjoyable and with the possibility of taking pictures outside and inside the palace. The price is 15€ for about 45 min indoor visit plus the gardens. It is a funny thing to see that I highly recommend.

It was an incredible experience. We were lucky to have a very special guide called Ana who was very talented and enthusiastic in explaining everything. I was delighted with the visit, I didn't expect anything to be as wonderful as it was. A heritage of great value and highly valued. An incredible tile with many themes. The gardens are very beautiful and well maintained. I loved! I strongly recommend you visit. Knowing Viseu and not knowing this palace is not knowing Viseu as a whole.

I'll start by explaining the title: €15 per person to visit the palace, including the gardens. I found it a little elevated, compared to other national palaces. Perhaps the fact that it is a family palace explains the value. The guide was very friendly, explaining in detail all the details of the rooms visited. I found it interesting, in a good state of conservation and I recommend the visit.

Very interesting and captivating guided tour. A very beautiful palace with very original 18th century tiles. It has extensive gardens with some fountains with nenuphares and centuries-old trees. Duration of the visit to the interior of the palace of +- 45min.

The Palace is beautiful and the guide who showed it, Rafaela, is an excellent professional and knowledgeable about its collection.

I would have liked to visit the chapel and I don't understand why they don't allow it...

I also think that it is little publicized on the networks, or is it on Instagram?

Thanks.

My partner and I visited the palace and were very pleased with the tour, our tour guide and her knowledge of the place and how well she performed in English and with the inside beauty of the palace. It’s definitely a place worth visiting since it’s so rich in story, one thing I would say that caused confusion is how obvious (or not) the place is open to the public since the website does mention the place is open everyday which it is but we were standing in front of the building for a while and tried calling the landline a few times with no answer.

We assumed it might have been due to a lunch break and when we came back a little before 2pm the entrance door was indeed open so perhaps it could benefit with more clear information in the main door of how exactly it all works and at what times the door will be close to the public. Other then that if anyone is curious to see the inside of the palace it’s definitely worth visiting!

We had a fantastic experience. Ana, our tour guide did a fabulous job, even though she just started a couple of days ago. We were lucky to be the only ones for this tour so we had all the time to ask questions and take pictures.

The tiles, the decoration, the gardens,... are all impressive. Tranquility and peace during the visit. Special mention to the guide who showed us around the palace. High degree of knowledge of the group, of the foreign language in which he served us and great kindness and sympathy. I wish all the vacation guides had been like this.
It is worth visiting the garden in peace and enjoying its peace. Even with the drought we were suffering, the fountains had a little water.

Visiting Mangualde without a visit to this Palacio is not a complete experience. Magnificent interior, contrary to the exterior of the building (need a lot of renovation, restauration). So leave a few euro's for this visit to help. It is worthwhile.

The Palace a must see if you are in the area. We love the Portuguese tiles and this place is full of them! Our guide Filipa was great, and made the visit very enjoyable. I would come back and recommmend this place to everyone.

What a beautiful Palacio. It's like stepping back into time! But the most impressive part of all? The tile layouts!! They are of such beauty that one must wonder if you are not experiencing one of the 7 wonders of the world. Well worth the detour just for that.
Highly recommended.

Really nice visit. The guided tour of the house was quite interesting and well explained. The most fun and uncommon part is the bar area, the humor and the decorations are unlike anything I've seen elsewhere. Highly recommend the visit, I'll go back for the gardens soon.

If you like history, art and architecture, this is a place definitely worth visiting. You will be amazed at the beauty of the numerous decorative tiles which can be seen adorning many rooms and staircases. The house provides an insight into the customs and mores of times gone by, like the small stone staircase to assist ladies alighting from horse-drawn carriages, the fact that the family didn't mix with the common people of the time, so joined chapel services from a window overlooking the altar, rather than join the congregation directly below. There is also an amusing display of humorous tiles depicting an upside down world, where traditional roles are reversed.

The guide was excellent, spoke good English and didn't fail to convey the story accurately. The tour is guided and lasts one hour - you can't visit on your own. My favourite room was the ladies' room overlooking the garden as it was flooded with light. The gardens are not (yet) open to the public. The Palace has wine for sale that is produced on site, and olive oil that is produced on another estate owned by the same family. There is free parking up the hill less than 100 metres from the Palace.

Well worth the 10 Euro entrance fee, which is expensive by Portuguese standards.
