Nice civil war oriented museum

Although small, the Manassas Museum has plenty of neat civil war stuff. And several times a year they have civil war reenactors camped around the museum.

This is a very nice and entertaining experience. The Manassas museum complements the National Battlefield Museum and Park.

You can go thru in 15 minutes. It is directly connected to visitors center, and that's the place to start the walking tour of the battlefield

I stopped in Manassas for a break after 2 hours on the road, white-knuckling it around the DC beltway and out Route 66. The museum is tucked in a park behind the train station; both are just off the main drag in the historic part of town. There was plenty of handicapped parking in the lot, and on the entrance... This is an in depth exhibit about Manassas and the surrounding areas before and after the Civil War. It covers every historical aspect of living there in the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries. They have lots of artifacts, and not just war items: household, business, and personal possessions are all laid out here for everyone to think about and enjoy.... More

For lovers of history, and I am one of them. Manassas was a very important site during the Civil War, so some artifacts there of course, along with history of the old town itself. Also a souvenir shop.

This museum is not very big, but it is nice. We spent about 30-45 minutes there. The movie is really good, best we've seen. Staff are really nice.

This small museum is just the right size to give the visitor a good sense of the history of Manassas - how the area was developed, the impact of the Civil War, and how it recovered and moved forward.

It's a large one room museum, showing the history of Manassas, with emphasis on the Civil War. Good for a one hour visit. The gift shop has a variety of interesting Virginia mementos, and the two women staffing it were very helpful in telling us about historic Manassas, where to go eat and shop in the little town. It's free... More
