We arrived in Malta knowing nothing about the country except what we had read in books. Seven days seemed enough time to explore the whole of Valetta and its suburbs-and a great experience it was.

However we had seen plenty of sights in our book which we had not seen during the holiday. So where were they?. Our hotel had drawn our attention to a leaflet from Duncan Zammit. .

We had two free days on our holiday and during one of these we decided to take his exclusive tour-and what an eye opener it was!.

We were taken to places where a coach would never go. Such places as The Salt Pans ,tiny picturesque fishing villages, Popeyes Village and a host of undiscovered places that we hadn't even seen in books

It was an explorers dream. Especially for me a photographer. So if you require something very Special then Duncans your man. He has a wealth of knowledge and insight, and will show you a new Malta-one which we would have never seen.

My wife and I took the full day Gozo tour, and Duncan truly showed us an awesome day! He picked us up promptly in the morning at our hotel, and the three of us set out for Gozo in his van. Gozo's natural beauty is quite stunning, and Duncan took us to some amazingly beautiful places off the beaten path, inlcuding secluded beaches, tiny seaside villages, salt ponds, stunning prehistoric temples. We had brought along an SLR camera borrowed from a family member, and Duncan was very helpful explaining to us novice photographers the best ways to use it. They guy really knows his stuff!

Lunch was included in the price, and was served in a fantastic rustic restaurant in the Cittadella. There we had an authentic & delicious Gotizan meal with some of the freshest tomatoes we've ever tasted!

Throughout the day along with sightseeing and photography, it was also interesting to hear Duncan explain Maltese culture from a local's perspective. Coming from the US, it was helpful to learn about this interesting and unique country.

We highly recommend uPhotoMalta!

Duncan is an excellent tour guide but on top of that he is extremely accommodating and flexible. He was willing to change the plans as we toured to fit our needs and found a way to fit in everything we wanted to do even though we had significant time restraints due to our flight that evening. He knows the islands so well, and was an open book to us about our questions of TRUE Maltese life. I recommend EVERY visitor to Malta should do at least one of the uPhotoMalta tours. You won't regret it!

I booked up a morning trip for my husband several weeks ago on the uphotomalta site. I filled in all the relevant details asked on the form as regards hotel, time of stay, my email address. As others have said, there was no reply to the booking but I thought as mentioned in previous reviews Duncan would turn up! However, after waiting 45 minutes with no sign of anyone, I asked the hotel receptionist if she would contact him. When she finally did, he said he was at the hospital where his wife had given birth to twins. He told her he had not confirmed our booking, so that was that!

I can appreciate that Duncan's mind was on other things, but surely he could have contacted the hotel to explain the situation. I also think that he should immediately contact anyone booking on his site to say to confirm the booking at the time. As it was, it was really disappointing for my husband as he had brought all his camera gear specifically for this photo opportunity.

All in all, a big let-down.

This was a horrible experience. I made a reservation for the early morning tour at 6 o clock this morning. Unfortunately nobody showed up. After 2 calls, they would send a driver. He arrived at 6.45. And this was indeed only a driver, just an old man that they had given the keys of a car. He had no photo experience at all. So it was definitely not a photographer. The first thing he asked me in very bad english was where I wanted to go? ????? How can I know where are the beautiful spots, that s why I booked the tour.... my photo skills were not upgraded as he just dropped me at some places and when I came back, I had to wait till he finished his cigarette...can you imagine the smell in the car?
For the last hour, he just dropped me in La Valetta, all on my own...
I told him to call Clive, the one where everyone is so positive about. Aparently he doesn't work there anymore and he was just told to pick someone up who wants to make some pictures of the island.
So I hope you understand why I was so disappointed. 120 euros for just a cab bringing me to La Valetta. I could have taken the bus for 4 euros.

So please people, don't book this and please company, stay in the taxi business if you don' t know anything about photography

we had the most fun running around the island in the great mini van, stopping at all the hot spots and learning everything there is to know about the history of malta while enjoying the beautifull scenery!

Great experience - you can book at the hotels reception or directly from the website. You can also email him on [--]

Duncan takes you round the island and you experience first hand the Maltese life as you don't go to the normal tourist places but in the villages and other sight seeings which are not so common but are beautfiul. He also explains the best way how to use your camera!

Ill recommend to anyone! Nice work Duncan! :)

We booked a full day tour to Gozo with uphoto and were picked up by Raymond first thing in the morning.
Raymond knew so much about the area and was really friendly. Major bonuses were missing all the main tourism traffic, often as we left a location there were big queues of buses forming. We had a traditional lunch near the citadel and really felt that we were taken to places that we just woudn't have seen without Raymond's expert knowledge. Traditional farms, exsquiste local churches and amazing coves. His knowledge gave us the background of everywhere we visited and took us to locations we wouldn't have thought about.
Amazing day, great guide and would 100% book again with uphoto.

I went on the afternoon tour of Malta with Duncan. He was very friendly and answered all questions and queries. He picked us up from our hotel in Sliema in a minibus.

There were 6 of us in total. Some people were very interested in photography and others less so. Duncan catered to everyone in the group and had tips for good photos as well as interesting points on history and culture for those less interested in getting good shots.

Between 2pm and about 6.30-7pm we toured the entire island. However the trip didn't feel rushed or stressed. There was a good mix of scenery from rocky outcrops to town/city views including Rabat and the 3 cities. Halfway round we stopped for some Pastizzi (local pastry filled with ricotta cheese) and drinks, all of which Duncan provided (no charge).

I think this a great way to see the island, its a nice, relaxing trip and you get to see the highlights. To spend half a day seeing some of the most scenic areas, with interesting dialogue in an unhurried way, with refreshments included is perfect.

What a way to see my favourite spot in Europe (if not the world). I have a Maltese mother (Australian born) and have always felt a connection to this little dot on the map. I booked Duncan because of the great reviews on here and let me tell you they are all true! He is wonderful. I've been to Malta twice before so I wanted something different. My husband and I just LOVED the tour and the history lesson too. Duncan takes you to amazing little spots that you couldn't get to by bus and makes you feel so comfortable. We even got to eat the best Pastizi's I've ever had (and I've had a lot) and have some sweet tea (almost as good as Kinnie!). The photos you take are amazing and Duncan couldn't be more friendly. We loved this tour and I'd do it again, maybe the morning tour or the Gozo tour. He even has great restuarant tips and places to stay. Everyone has to do this to see the REAL Malta not just the touristy stuff like Comino, Sliema and Valetta there is so much more to Malta! Thank you Duncan we had a great time! All the best "The Honeymooners"
