A typically touristy boat trip around the islands, caves and lagoons of Malta, despite the captain and first-mate being friendly, there were some important elements of this trip missing which otherwise would have made for a far better experience.
The commentary on the boat was very quiet and only consisted of instructions for pick up and drop off times and transport. We spent a lot of time on the boat with no commentary about the places of interest we were passing, such as the the cliffs-side buildings and statues, caves, island or lagoons - it would have been so nice to have learnt about what we were seeing.
We stopped off in the blue lagoon, which is hugely over-crowded, I cannot stress this enough, there is literally nowhere to sit and not enough time to get to the other side of the island, where it is quieter. The water was clear however with boats absolutely everywhere in my opinion it is not safe to swim or snorkel too far away from the small and crowded shore (i didn’t get a picture of the lagoon to show the extent of this unfortunately)
We headed to Gozo, where we missed the connecting transfer as we didn’t hear the details of what to do, so we Taxi’d in to the capital, sat and had lunch, whilst a couple of us ran up the hill to the Citadel for some photos, all very rushed due to the additional time it took us to arrange taxis for a family of 8 people (2x children and 6x adults - one with accessibility needs)
We also stopped at St. Pauls island, with no commentary we knew nothing more about why this was a place of interested other than the statue itself, nevertheless some of us took a pleasant walk up to the statue, which was beautiful as the sun was beginning to set.
I would not recommend swimming or snorkelling here, the water is very dirty with plastic bottles and bags and JELLYFISH, some the size of dinner plates, one person on our trip was stung and regrettably place to swim was recommended to us to swim by the captain.
Overall the places we visited were beautiful,, the boat was clean and the captain and first mate friendly, however it felt like a ‘stack ‘em high, sell ‘em cheap’ kind of trip with little attention to details, no commentary, no warning about jellyfish, no checking all information had been heard. Regrettably, we would not do this boat tour again and wouldn’t recommend it either for our type of group.
