Mirano, a city also known as the "Venetian Garden" thanks to the beauty of its nature in which there are two historic gardens of high natural value, Parco di Villa Belvedere and Parco XXV Aprile, which were created independently but border each other. The villas of Morosini Monico known as XXV Aprile and Belvedere stand out in the park, joined by a wooden bridge and gathered around large parks. In front of Villa Belvedere on an artificial island is the "Castelletto", a charming little castle with an octagonal tower with the Belvedere caves, a 19th century building, accessible today thanks to a thorough renovation. It was built by the Venetian nobleman Vincenzo Paolo Barzizza in the second half of the nineteenth century. On the Muson River, in the park of Villa Belvedere, is also Molino di Sotto, an example of industrial archeology that operated until immediately after the war. Here we can relax and enjoy complete peace surrounded by beautiful nature and interesting to see nutria, ducks, swans and geese walking around. And all this just two steps from the center of Mirano.

There is an untimed car park in the street just before you get to this Castle & Park. The Castle reputedly (from their web site!) has grottos, etc but it doesn't open very often (if at all…). That said the park is a nice place to walk around and there are lots of ducks and fish in the river to keep the kids happy - bring your own bread. The car park is also perfectly placed to visit the shops and restaurants in Mirano.

This little gem is found off a street that has massive walls all around it. Apparently at the villa portion they rent out the venue. Unfortunately the castle is closed to the public. But it faces the lake great picture opportunity. When my computer is fixed will post the pics. If you find yourself in Mirano please go, you will not be disappointed.
