This tour for four of us to celebrate our friends silver wedding anniversary was just amazing from start to finish. It started with one message to Giselle to ask if something could be arranged in these post Covid times, she promptly replied with all the details and our tour was arranged. From the moment that Mark collected us and told us the aim of the day was to have fun to the moment he dropped us off and gave us each a custom made Gusto wine tours memento, FUN was exactly what we had!! On the way to our first cantina of the day Mark gave us a commentary on the history of wine making in Umbria and in particular the Montefalco region. Mark is very knowledgeable and humorous and gave us lots of details that we were learning for the first time. We visited 2 cantine in the morning, both very different but with excellent selections. Mark explained how to taste and smell the wines to get the best out of our experience and how the tastes differed after food. At the second cantina, we were lucky enough to see some of the grapes being harvested and put through the first of the machines. Then he took us to a small bed and breakfast - il grotto - for an amazing lunch. The food was absolutely delicious and it was no trouble at all to cater to our dietary requirements! After a leisurely 4 course meal with more wine we headed off to our final cantina. Here we were able to see the family hand picking the grapes and taste some straight from the vine and learn how to identify the different varieties by the colour and size of leaves etc. Then another selection of 6 wines to try before heading home. This was a fantastic day experience that we all thoroughly enjoyed and we came home with lots of new wines to enjoy at our leisure. If you are in the Montefalco area, this tour is not to be missed. Thank you so much Giselle and Mark!!

A birthday treat!
Two of us went tasting with Mark who had adapted his transport and the style of the tour to comply with the Covid regulations. It was a great success.
We visited two wineries, one traditional the other run by an energetic, enthusiastic and innovative young vintner. We were introduced to some exceptional wines and to food that brought out the subtle flavours in the wine and vice versa.
A memorable occasion.
Indimenticabili :-)

Thoroughly enjoyed the wine tour with Mark of Gusto Wine Tours in Umbria. Loved the family owned wineries and found Mark to be informative and entertaining. The wine and food was delicious! Gusto Wine Tours provided a top notch experience during the off season. I would absolutely recommend this tour any time of year!

We had a wonderful experience with Gusto Wine Tours on a full day wine tasting- with a delicious lunch! Mark and Giselle were very easy to work with and provided unique insight into a less traveled wine region. Clear instructions for pick up location with the pleasure of someone else driving. I highly recommend this tour if you are in Umbria and enjoy wine.

We have been on multiple tours with gusto wine tours and mark, and every one of them has been fantastic. Mark of course is incredibly informative and interesting, the wine is outstanding, the scenery beautiful and the wineries wonderful. It is a great way to spend a day in Umbria. We visit Italy often and a gusto wine tour is always on the itinerary!

This was our first trip back to Italy since the pandemic began, which included several days in Assisi. One of our specific goals on this trip was to support friends and acquaintances whose businesses have been severely affected by Covid, so we booked our third Gusto tour. As always, Mark provides an excellent tour and tasting experience. He is highly informative and personable, and it was a pleasure to see him again. The Gusto experience is based on visits to small producers, so you will taste wines you have likely never had before, and Mark made each of our three tours different. You can purchase wines if you wish, although there is no pressure to do so, and Mark can ship them to you at home--or just buy a few bottles to drink while you're in Italy (we did both). Highly recommended.

After the success of last year’s tour we were keen to return with guests to see what new delights Mark could conjure up. Once again we were delighted with our experiences. One innovative young wine maker, one very traditional; the one full of delightful surprises and new flavours, the other delivering the richness of experience and tradition, both a treat for our palates. Between the tastings we ate a delicious multi course lunch in a local agriturismo. Throughout we were informed by Mark’s vast knowledge of vines and wine making and wines, and entertained by his many anecdotes. Our guests have vowed to return, and so will we!

We recently did a one day private wine tour with Jennifer, and it was outstanding. We were staying in Perugia and Jennifer picked us up there. We went to three lovely wineries in total, two before lunch and one after. We weren’t familiar with Umbrian wines, and Jennifer was a wealth of information. The wineries were all small and we were able to have tailored tastings at each. For lunch, we went to Jennifer’s restaurant in Bevagna and had a delicious lunch and a tour of the town. In all, it was a fabulous day, and we would highly recommend. Jennifer also arranged shipping of wines that we bought at the three wineries.

Wine lovers have to do this tour!
Mark is an excellent guide with a lot of humor. We enjoyed our tour with a variety of delicious food at small wineries in the Montefalco and Bevagna areas. The wines were great and we learned a lot.
Thank you for this amazing day!

Mark and Giselle planned a wonderful day for my daughter and me on an unexpectedly private tour of the Montefalco wine region of Umbria! Giselle provided guidance to book inexpensive train tickets from Rome to Foligno and Mark was waiting for us to begin our tour. It could not have been easier making arrangements. Mark drove us in his spotless van to three small production wineries that we would have never found on our own. Each winery provided generous samples of five or more wines featuring the Sagrantino grape and two of the wineries provided homemade local meats, cheeses, breads and sweets to complement the tasting. We also tasted locally-produced olive oil and were warmly welcomed by the winemakers their families and their pets! After the first two tastings we stopped for a four-course lunch at a beautiful farmhouse with more wine included. The meal was absolutely divine. Throughout the day, Mark educated us on proper wine tasting technique, wine production and the history of the wines grown in the region as well as entertained us with stories. While Mark emphasized there was absolutely no pressure to buy, we could not resist and decided to ship wine and olive oil home for our entire family to enjoy. Mark handled all the details for shipping and dropped us off at the train station with plenty of time to get back on the train for our return journey to Rome! With everything included in the full day of activities, the tour is a great value.
This was the perfect day trip from Rome and gave us the opportunity to visit the beautiful Italian countryside. We returned with an appreciation of Umbria region and the gorgeous Montefalco wines and olive oils. We would both highly recommend Gusto wine tours!
