Jeff was enthusiastic and extremely knowledgeable about this historic and absolutely beautiful area of the city. In between the discussions about the various architectural styles of the houses in the area he wove the historical events that shaped Richmond and the sad life of Edgar Allen Poe whose story is inextricably linked to Richmond and the Church Hill area. An extremely well done and interesting tour of this very important part of the city. We had originally scheduled this private tour for a different day but when it became apparent that it would be very rainy then he was flexible enough to meet us at a different time which was greatly appreciated.

Needed a familiarization tour in hopes of finding a new city to call home. Ray was excellent in blending in all about both the history and local neighborhoods of Richmond! Took a 3hr tour and highly recommend!! Ray is a great storyteller and very knowledgeable about the city past and present. Excellent to work with, flexible with custom tour arrangements and needs. Ditch the 'trolley' if you want your money's worth book The Richmond Tour Guys, you won't be disappointed!!

Informative and fun tour led by our guide Jason. He was terrific, gave us lots of history in a very entertaining way and took care of us like we were family (brought bottled water for us, found us rest rooms, etc.) It was so generous of him to give us an extra hour of his time to do the tour, which stretched into 3 hours due to all our questions. Jason's knowledgeable, funny, and may remind you of Robert Redford!

Ray — funny, knowledgeable, organized, punctual, and outgoing — gave 13 college friends an amazing tour of RVA via van! We viewed historic Jackson Ward, known as "Black Wall Street"; the houses of John Marshall, Mann Valentine, and Jefferson Davis; MCV and Monumental Church; St. John's Church, where we walked around the graveyard; and many other interesting sites. Thank you, Ray, for all the interesting stories! I'll be back with more friends!

Having lost a day and a night to airline trouble on my flights from England, I was eager to see as much as possible of Civil War Richmond in just two days. I was fortunate to have Ray Kaufman as a guide. We not only covered the historic city to its full extent, but also drove out to three battlefields of the 1862 and 1864 campaigns. I greatly appreciated Ray's detailed information even where no physical relics of the period have survived. In a historical field so contested as the 1861-65 war, Ray is a man without bias or prejudice. And he is good company.

Our tour of Richmond with Ray Kaufman was 5-star in every way. From Jackson Ward to VCU to Church Hill, Ray gave us a running commentary covering interesting historical facts and added fascinating stories he'd dug out of archives.

With Ray at the wheel of our double cab pickup truck, the five of us glided seamlessly from one site to another. Delivered in Ray's calm warm voice, our tour was most informative and relaxing and worth taking again.

I recently was guided around Richmond for a whole day by Jeff, Ray and Jim and it was fantastic! I couldn't have asked for a better experience than what I received. They were not only professional, but very knowledgeable of Richmond. Richmond has a lot of history throughout many eras and they were able to navigate me through each. The whole experience wasn't just them giving me facts, they told me some really great, fun and interesting stories. I got the pleasure of spending the day with them as we explored Richmond's historic sites and the battle fields. They let me fully experience Richmond, at my pace, without rushing me on sites I wanted to spend some extra time on. You can tell they take pride in their city and have a passion for showing it off. I highly recommend booking a tour with the Richmond Tour Guys.

Erin was our tour guide and was great. She was very knowledgeable and friendly. We took the downtown tour. The pace was just right and we got to see and hear about Richmond's history. The tour ended right at the Capitol building which was great because we were planning on touring the Capitol next anyway. This is definitely a tour that needs to be taken whether you are from out of town or live in the city.

My wife and I took a Civil War Battlefields Tour with the Richmond Tour Guys and had a delightful sightseeing excursion around Richmond. Our tour guides, Ray and Jim were so knowledgeable about the battlefields that we highly recommend their services. These guys are entertaining and really fun to hang around with. Great tour!

We did the Downtown Sample Tour. The fact that this tour was free was unbelievable! This tour was one of the best I've ever been on! Ray had so much knowledge of the history of Richmond and would add a bit of humor here and there which made it extremely enjoyable. The length of the tour was just right. I highly recommend this tour.
