Described as "the antithesis" of Shockhoe Slip, Shockhoe Bottom's cheaper prices and edgier commerce draws younger crowds.

Read all the write-ups of the Shockoe Bottom area calling it a "vibrant bar scene" "revitalized, hip new area" etc, etc. We went expecting to see lots of activity and cute places to eat and drink. It was like a ghost town. A spooky ghost...More

Quite the little quiet and cozy area. You have everything you need for an excellent weekend or so of fun and great eats. Quaint little pizza joints surrounded by larger establishments like Buffalo Wild Wings and a restaurant with its own brewery. Hotels and Pubs...More

I like Shockhoe Bottom a lot, there are a lot of restaurants to pick from, and it's a great place for night-life + it's within walking distance of a lot of the loft apartments and condos downtown.

I enjoy walking areas. Here you experience cobblestone streets. Check out Main St station. There are several pubs and eateries. Mural art is all around too. Parking seems fairly easy to find and we easily used a $5 parking lot.

Had a bit of a "walk-around" in Schokoe Bottom today. Appears to have been an area once blighted, restored, and now on the way to seed again, although construction continues rehabbing old buildings and putting up new. The train station, while obviously of some heroic...More

We ate lunch at Millie's on E. Main and 27th. Afterward we headed to the farmer's market area for drinks. There was public parking that was ok priced. $2 for 3 hours. We went to a small bar with a firehouse theme. It wasn't crowded...More

Expected so much more. Small area - couple of cobblestone streets with pricey restaurants - it ain't Austin 6th Street. I was expecting something different - no real shops, got a few places to eat, drove around the area and couldn't figure what the big...More

Shockhoe Bottom District is a great side sightseeing trip in Richmond. Lots of good restaurants, cobble stoned streets, and a few good shops to check out. The old Richmond slave jail site is "around the corner" and a must see. The Confederate White House is...More
