We stopped in Richmond on our way home from DC, and found this canal cruise on our walk on the waterfront. Very reasonable and the tour guide "Cotton" was so much fun and really knowledgeable. We learned so much about the Canal history and Richmond that we hope to make a trip to Richmond in the Future. If you have... More

The cruise down the canal isn't terribly exciting and not a lot to see. The cruise itself doesn't go far, just a slow leisurely pace up and down the canal - however if you are interested in history, the narrative provided by the captain would be good for you. It's pretty cheap, only $6 per person so if you are... More

We were a little disappointed with the length of time and actual things you see on this trip. We both thought we would see more old houses, buildings, etc. and hear a little more history about the town. On the positive side the guide was friendly and had a good presentation with what you did see. It was pretty hot... More

We arranged a charter canal cruise (ridiculously reasonable for 12 of us) as a surprise outing for my in-laws 61st wedding anniversary. It was a beautiful day and, since most of us had not even known this type of excursion existed, it turned out to be a really wonderful afternoon. Our guide and boat driver, Aaron Bivens, is to thank... More

What a wonderful way to be introduced to a city. The river boat was a pleasant distraction from the bustle of the city that hums in the background as knowledgeable boat captain shares stories of the past and present. The wild life was surprising for an urban environment, tons of turtles sunning and swimming, a beaver swimming, (who knew) and... More

Who knew that this tour would be a relaxing time on the water, full of nature, interesting history, and a unique view of Richmond. Our boat captain, David Clark was excellent, and he told us interesting facts about each new vista as it came into view. It offered a unique view of the architecture of the area, and an understanding... More

I had several family members in town ranging in age from 14-70, not including my own 8 YO and 15 YO. There was 9 of us total, and I wanted to do something different. I've wanted to do the canal cruise, so this was my perfect chance. We got our tickets (discount for very young and more mature cruisers), and... More

We had a couple of hours to kill while in town for a wedding. This was a fun way to spend part of an afternoon. Captain was full of interesting info about the history of Richmond especially as it pertains to this canal area. I learned much about Richmond's place in the Civil War. Only five bucks for seniors! Very... More

I love the canal tour. It is a must when we have out of town visitors. Very good value for money and a fun way to spend some time.

Short water tour of the James River that goes through Richmond. Tour tour guide was very knowledgeable about the past and current uses of the James River. Stated they are working on another section that will added to the tour.
