Nice quick cruise in a canal taught us a lot about Richmond's history, why Richmond is there, the James River, and much more. Knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide made it interesting, even sneaked up on a heron so we could see it take off and land...More

For only $8 a person, this tour is a steal. It is short, yet sweet, with lots of great facts and information about the canal, people less known and history of Richmond.

This was a quick tour but informative. The guide allowed us to ask questions and he knew a lot about the history and nature side of the city. I would recommend to go to learn about the canal's history.

This is a 45 minute historical tour done in a boat traveling the Richmond canal. Very informative and a nice ride, the captain/tour guide was pleasant and knowledgeable. If you like trains, You probably will see a few on overhead bridges.

I'm a Richmonder and I had done the cruise once before, but this was the first time for my granddaughter. The narrator gave interesting facts and stories as we moved slowly along the canal. It was fun, but certainly the excitement level was pretty low....More

We had a great time on the tour. It lasts 40 minutes, but has a nice overview of the history of Richmond. Our captain was knowledgeable and was very interesting. We saw a number of turtles and a blue heron. It was fun to learn...More

Pleasant hour with a tour guide on this canal. Loved the wild life! Baby Mallards learning to navigate the waters, turtles sunning on logs and Herons lurking in the brush for that perfect bite.

The ride itself was underwhelming but the history was interesting. The canal is very small and not picturesque. Small children may enjoy the boat ride but you’ll mainly take this tour for the history lesson.

Want a good overview and orientation to Richmond? Find your way to the canal cruises right downtown. We had Captain Rusty who spent 40 minutes showing us his town from the water. Kids and adults will like the pace, and you might see some wildlife...More
