The sea bend of the tourist port of this beautiful town is bordered at both ends (clockwise) by the squat pseudo-cylindrical volume of the tower of the Arab-Norman castle and the port lighthouse.
If during the day the quay is full of managers offering tourists all kinds of boat excursions, in the evening it is the undisputed dominion of the numerous restaurants, which were quite busy even during the period in which we were there (second half of June).
The characteristic historic center of Castellammare is located a little higher up, but not far from the port area, which can be easily reached by going down the steps of the "Villa" (as the public gardens in Southern Italy are called) named after the Queen Margherita pizza.

Charming small town with many good restaurants. Easy day trip from many points of interest - temple as Segesta, Selinunte Archaelogical Park, Mazara del Vally, Motya, Zingaro Nature Reserve, Scopello.
Hiking from town up in the hill overlooking the town is an option.

This is a Marina like many others in Sicily, and like most of them it is a view to see and not to miss.
Catellammare del Golfo is a beautiful small Sicilian city.
You will walk some narrow and interesting streets till you reach the main street leading to this port.
There are many restaurants, eateries and shops of course, many shops for us, tourists.
It's nice to be there.

Stopped off at this pretty little coastal town on our journey between Palermo and Erice. Had a lovely walk around the harbour area which was lined with some nice restaurants. Lots of nice streets to wander through and a good beach. Would definitely consider staying for a visit here another time.

As with everywhere I’ve been so far in Italy, this is a stunning seaside town. Lovely ambiance and locals BUT the rubbish on the beach and in every little corner is heartbreaking to see. Big bags of waste are dumped under bushes and everywhere else, on the sides of roads, under bridges and the auto strada. Lip service is paid to recycling but obviously much is just dumped, and with the summer tourist season approaching I expect it will only get worse. Time to ban plastic altogether.

Porto Di castellammare del Golfo is the port of this coastal town. It is a very nice port, where you can see very nice views of the sea, the coast, the mountains and the ships/boats. A place to walk, where there are some bars and restaurants. Very beautiful.

We have just returned from Castellammare and had a lovely break. We stayed at the Hotel Punta Nord-Est which is ideally positioned to walk into town. The old town is lovely to explore with no shortage of great places to eat - the marina is fascinating as it is also a functional fishing port and every morning the boats display their catch which is soon snapped up by local eateries - this is a sea-food lover's heaven. We enjoyed a small family run restaurant called Petrolo - if you are there then try it. We used it as a base to travel out to local sites etc. during the day - ideal for this and just 30 minutes from Palermo. The one small criticism we had was that for such a lovely town it needs more care cleaning the streets and pavements. Well worth the visit though .

Not much was open when we visited this village on the first of June, too bad because it looks like a wonderful place to stay.
So many interesting shops and beaches, but no visitors.

Try boat trip Gita in Barca - booking kiosk near Coastguards. Wonderful experience -ask if Estonian lady on board name roughly "Aneola"-gave us English commentary. Visited caves- chances to snorkel and swim in beautiful sea in small boat-more fun! Gozzo

We stayed just outside Castellammare in Fraginesi which was a lovely area. We had a Villa with a pool Villa Limone. We found the area so beautiful and the town of Castellammare was kind to us as we got all our shopping from here at the supermarket Deco. Our host Giovanni didnt really speak English but was charming as was almost everyone we met. However dont expect the drivers to give any mercy to tourists!
We went to Scopello which is a lovely village above a beach area also to Segesta a Trojan town super impresive but exhausting.Trapani a town to the East was not so much fun. In all we had 7 days of fantastic holiday
Big Problem was Palermo Airport which was horrendous the worst ever experience in a departure hall in my life. This gave what was super a sting in the tail be warned.

Ciao sapete dirmi se nel molo si può pescare? Ho visto che un lato l’hanno chiuso ma è possibile accedervi? Sotto il castello c’è un posticino dove potersi mettere per pescare?
