The James Polk Johnson Building is a historical building on the square. It was built by Johnson City’s founder James Polk Johnson. It is current a bank. When the Blanco county seat moved to Johnson City in 1890, the building was a temporary courthouse and jail. President Lyndon Johnson had an office there. The building has been banks, general stores, hotels, restaurants and business offices. Pretty cool to see on the outside and it is very well maintained.
