Chiara is perhaps the last person in the world, who knows the secret of sea silk. It is a must to visit her and learn about it if you are around....

It has been a pleasure to actually see how she was spinning the thread and “harvester” the silk of the sea and the magic how it turned to golden shine, magic :) A must see in S. Antioco... don’t forget to donate !

It is fascinating to see this ancient, precious and rare type of lace, admire its golden colour in the sunlight, see how it is spun and integrated in the traditional crafts mrs.Vigo makes... Regardless of how her personality may impact on you, "bisso" itself remains something that is definitely worth seeing. I do recommend going there.

Our guide took us to see the Museo and to meet with Chiara. We hear how she dives to gigantic mussels about 1 metre high and harvests the 'beard' which is produced by the mussel she is a free diver and can stay underwater for a long time. it takes several hundred dives to collect a few hundred grams of 'silk' which she then washes carefully and then spins into thread. When the silk is held in sunlight, it glows with a golden reflected light. Chiara won't sell her silk - it is a gift from the sea she says. What an amazing person.

What a beautiful soul! Maestro Chiara Vigo is the only one on earth doing this kind of spinning, and spun from the gel that the shell expels, that solidifies when it hits the water. It is amazing to watch her. I was overwhelmed with emotion to meet her!
