Despite the fact that San Pantaleo has a nice setting the market for sure is overcrowded and a real tourist trap. Good to have been there but never gonna do that again.
Maybe its best to arrive at 8am on Thursday instead of 1045
Parking is a challenge as is driving, trying to drive your way around all the tourists senselessly crossing the roads

It's a very pretty town with a lovely mountain backdrop but the market itself is quite small and busy. There are some good quality things to buy and it is a nice place to go, but I think it is a place we will only visit once. If you don't want to arrive while it's busy, I would recommend getting there by 10:00 latest. The best place to park is at a local football club. To get there, follow the road leading up to the town, turn right just before the Esso Garage and follow the parking signs into the car park. It is free but they accept donations for the football club. The car park also has toilets.

This well known local market takes over the entire centre of this pretty little hillside town every Thursday morning from about 8am to 1pm.
Unlike many of the local markets in Sardinia and indeed Italy, this one has more than just clothing and food, but also has a wide range of local crafts from the very simple to quite high end.
You can easily spend 2-3 hours, browsing, trying the food and just enjoying watching the people. I bet you can't visit without buying something.

And when you are done, there are lots of good cafes and restaurants to have lunch - just look them up on Trip Advisor !

San Pantaleo is a beautiful old town in the north of Sardinia, but not by the sea. The most attractive part is the market square with a nice church, Nina cafe and several modern art galleries and boutiques. Of particular interest is the modern painting gallery to the right of the Nina Cafe (in the same building). When I was there there was a Sardinian couple getting married there and if you come on Saturday maybe you will be as lucky as we are.

A typical European Market, with lots of stalls, selling many clothes, a few cheese stalls and a couple of veg stalls. But it is VAST. We were staying in the village, but parking was all down the roads into the village.

Came here as we saw on different websites the market in San Pantaleo was worth the visit. It is indeed a nice small market, but the only food that was sold here was honey and nothing else. No fruit, no cheese, and we were hoping to see and taste some of the local market food. A lot of clothes and tourist stuff is sold here but nothing special.
Worth the visit if you the local market atmosphere, but not for buying something special.

Our hotel guided us here, it was packed the day we visited and just managed to get a parking space. Not really sure that it was worth the bother though, we bought some local salami which my husband says is delicious and our friends bought fruit, apart from that it was same old, same old.

Recommemended by lady on reception and only 15 minutes from Porto Rotondo. Lots of crafts on display plus fresh foods. Bustling walkabout and we did buy a couple of items. Worth a visit.

Have been many times. It is always very difficult to park and getting to the point of impossible so expect a long walk or be patient. Wonder when a park and ride will be thought if to relieve the congestion of the one main road through the village as this would benefit local residents, traders and prospective purchasers/tourists. However apart from that it is always a pleasure to visit this very tiny market and to eat/drink at the little cafes.
