porto taverna beach was without question a highlight during our stay in the province of baronia. the parking place is near the beach and costs money.
we arrived at porto taverna beach in the later morningtime. we were lucky and found a quiet place near the waterfront at the southend of the beach. some rocks and cliffs are located there and it is possible to snorkel also. the underwater wildlife is various there and the visibility was realy great. it is better to wear watershoes, because some rocks are slippery, others are sharp-edged and sea urchines are habitated also.
the wide beach itself easily is a dream and consists of white powdery sand and the water was tupwarm and crystalclear and shows every shade of green and blue.
the beach slopes gently to the sea and porto taverna is a perfect place for families with small children. the water was flat like a mirror, because the bay is protected by headlands on both sides. the vegetation in the back is lush and consists of maccia, higher bushes and smaller trees. behind the beach aera a stagno is located, in which a lot of babyfishes are habitated. we saw big swarms of tiny fishes which explore their protected surrounding.
there are located also some beachbars which rent sunbeds and umbrellas for horrible money. if the prices for drinks and food are same high as the prices for the sunbeds it is much better to have a cooling bag with drinks and food by side.
further shadowzones near the waterfront are rare and an umbrella and sun protection is absolutely necessary.
the panorameview in this bay is also extraordinary.
the beach is realy high frequentated during high season and it is the best to arrive in time to catch a nice place near the waterfront.
we can recomment porto taverna beach very much. we had a great time there. the atmosphere at the southsection was relaxed and quiet. a place to let dangle the soul. every visitor of the province of baronia shouldn´t miss a day at this fantastic place.

With views across the clear turquoise sea to Island of Tavolara, and clean, pale sand this beach is simply stunning. In October, the weather was still perfect, the beach less crowded and ample parking available. There’s a very relaxed beach cafe serving reasonably priced drinks. It was fantastic to sip a cocktail while taking in the gorgeous scenery. Behind the sands, there are shallow lagoons with wading flamingoes. A boardwalk across the lagoon lets you get quite close to watch the flamingoes feeding. A really lovely place to visit.

Porto Taverna - Norte (North)
Fantastic beach, recommended to all, I have been there for a week in October 19, but many people around, some days felt like we had the beach to ourselves. Easy parking, good toilets and showers facilities
If its windy you can always move to Porto Taverna - Sud (South) as it can be more sheltered, haven't seen toilets or.sjoers around though and parking can become tricky but still a very nice beach to visit.

After searching through so many beaches of Sardinia that is not complete chaos in the month of August, we decided to give this beach a try and were amazingly pleased.
Despite going on a busy Saturday in August, this beach has plenty of parking and is extremely long, which means you won’t get the chaos you would at smaller very popular beaches.
The sand is enjoyable, but the best part is the extremely soft super clean water. The first 15 feet are less promising, but once you swim past the white buoys it’s like the Caribbean.
We opted for two chairs with an umbrella for €30; don’t bother paying an extra €10 for the first two rows as they are about 8 feet away from the third and fourth rows.
There is a restaurant and bar in the centre with good and affordable drinks, but once again the stupid policy of needing a reservation even applies to have lunch at a dodgy beach bar in the middle of nowhere!! Lol. I swear I will never understand such a policy except only in Italy of course where they’d rather have a half empty restaurant and serve less people. I’m surprised I wasn’t asked for my reservation when I had to go pee.

Really nice beach. Lots of people but still quiet and peaceful. Water was so clear and it was easy to swim all tough it was quite swallow. I recommend this beach, it was much better than Porto Istana.
Only thing that was not nice, was the parking cost, full day was 10 euro. But still, worth it.

If you are looking for a relaxing day at a beach for a group of people or with kids, Porto Taverna beach is perfect for you! Just 15-20 min drive fra Olbia, with a lot for parking space, 3 restaurants, clean water(feels very safe, you need to go for a while to get to deep water) and sand beach- This is place to be! And look at this amazing view !

Great if you're under two years old, as the sea will come up to your knees at the water's edge. Too shallow for anything but paddling for an adult. That's why the water looks turquoise - sea reflecting sand. I really couldn't find enough depth to swim even a stroke or two.
The beach is also overwhelmingly crowded.
Looks good. But it's style over substance.
AND the taxi driver charged me 20 Euros to take me there (3km from Porto San Paulo) and another 20 Euros back. Apparently this is the minimum fare. Watch out for that.
Not impressed.

Buona sera,
