- Francesco M4 contributionsA place made vital by the fruit of the work of volunteers who have committed themselves, with a great civic spirit, to preserve a disused site filling it with the history of the facts and the people who worked here (also thanks to the donations of former mine workers and their families, making a gesture of mediation between personal stories and the identity of the territory). Accompanied by a Guide of excellent narrative ability and historical precision, we went through the exhibition (composed of machinery, tools, objects, peculiarities and original registers) which in its setting, in addition to representing the tools and technological enrichments of mining work, was able to give an account of the social dimension along about two centuries of activity. Going into this visit was exciting, I think it is an important step to give depth to the knowledge of this beautiful territoryVisited August 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten August 4, 2024
- MKCAS276 contributionsThe visit to the site lasts over two hours. The visitable area is not very extensive, and several buildings are decadent. But here we are not talking about a view or a visit, but an experience. Thanks to his passion, oral transmission stories, proximity to miners, Tore will make you relive the joys (few) and pains (very much) of mining life.Visited September 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten October 3, 2024
- chiachideri81Turin, Italy10 contributionsThe Zu Surfuru mine is perhaps the least publicized in the area. You have to book to be able to visit it but it is all very simple because WhatsApp also provides directions on how to access the parking lot. Those who accompany you in the mining complex are those who have experienced first-hand the life of the mine and, through historical graphic and material sources, passionate stories and historically well contextualized, you realize the historical and social reality of Fluminimaggiore and its surroundings. The visit is highly recommended.Visited August 2024Traveled with friendsWritten August 6, 2024
- Michela Z1 contributionVisit really interesting and sometimes touching given the themes. Roberto managed to lead us with his story to those years in a truly unique way, which only a person who has lived can fully understand. The duration of the visit was almost 3 hours, but they flew! Experience absolutely to do. Thank you Roberto.Visited July 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten July 22, 2024

- Annafranca LCagliari, Italy1 contributionTwo days ago I got to visit the mine museum on Zurfuru. It is managed by an association of volunteers that deals with keeping alive, with documents objects and stories, the memory of men, women and children who to survive have faced one of the hardest and most dangerous jobs, at the cost, sometimes, of their own lives. I thank Tore who guided us on the historical path and made us live an exciting journey through time.Visited October 2024Traveled with friendsWritten October 15, 2024

I organized a trip to Sardinia with some friends to do some trekking and visit the significant sites of this region. I contacted the association that manages the mine, receiving a prompt response and complete availability for organizing the visit. We arrived at the appointment early but this did not disturb our guide who immediately made himself available and began the visit. We were immediately hypnotized by the wealth of information and curiosities that were presented to us, to the point of well exceeding the expected visit time. We were pleased to review the day's programs in order to assimilate with sight and hearing what was exposed to us. I believe that it is absolutely mandatory for anyone passing through this area to plan a visit to the mine. A special thanks to our guide who was definitely commendable for his preparation, availability and eloquence.

Very interesting experience in the company of Mr. Corriga, who managed to involve adults and children by transmitting his passion and answering with great patience the numerous questions from the little ones. We hope you will be able to realize your projects and we hope to see you again when the gallery is made safe and can therefore be visited. A heritage of inestimable value. Highly recommended!

I visited the museum attached to the "Su Zurfuru" mine with my family, during the week of August. The guide was very kind, we were impressed by his competence and passion for the mine. The museum is well stocked with objects and tools that belonged to the miners. It was a real blast from the past, very informative. We thank the volunteers of the association who make their time and skills available to let us know a glimpse of our island's past.

Today we made the excursion to the Su Zurfuru mine, accompanied by an excellent guide, prepared and cultured, exhaustive in the questions asked, interrupting the story told! Thank you. I invite those who haven't seen it yet to go and visit it! We promise to go and see the mine underground accompanied by the guide!

My husband and I had visited the Montevecchio mine the previous day and had a disappointing experience.Despite the fact that the tour guide did speak English, she spoke only in Italian,to the Italians ,stating that we could ask her questions if we needed to. Whilst my husband did ask a few questions, they were answered very very simplistically and we came away thinking that our 12euros each entry fee had taught us very little.
The absolute opposite was experienced today! The non-speaking Italian guide ( Tores) ,apologised at the start, that his English speaking colleague was off sick but still was prepared to show us around and would do his best to get around the language barrier. He very proudly showed us around the museum, doing as much as he possibly could both verbally,in gestures,by writing things on a notepad when he could , by using his phone to translate his explanations or of our questioning. We both really appreciated his efforts and sincerely enjoyed this most informative visit
We would highly recommend anyone to visit this mining museum and thank Tores most sincerely for his knowledgeable input to our visit;much appreciated.

We really enjoyed our visit at the mine because Tore one of the best tour guides we ever had gave us an excellent and practical insight into the way the mine affected the whole region around Fluminimaggiore and beyond. The Su Zurfuru Mine was one of the few in Sardinia with electricity from hydropower. The mine produced even enough energy to provide the nearby town Fluminimaggiore with electricity making it one if not the first electrified town in Sardinia. If one wants to experience what it meant to work at one of the Sardinian mines and how it influenced the region one should definitely visit the Su Zurfuru Mine!

Our family (parents and 2 children of 6 and 8) enjoyed the visit to this mine-site a lot. We planned on exploring the museum by ourselves, but were offered a free guided tour by a passionate ex-miner. His explanations made history come to life! We saw impressing machinery and learned about the hard work and daily risks in the miners (children from 8 y on, men and women).
The collection grows still, with donations of ex-miners from the region. We spent more than an hour on the site.
Our children got to choose their own very special mineral-stone at the end of the visit.

Free visit to a magical place from the past. The site was already known by the Romans, but the visit focuses on the more recent past. A beautiful walk from the nearby source, which unfortunately we drank from before learning about the chemicals that were used in the cleaning process. The site was a surprise as it wasn't indicated on Osmand. Very passionate guides with personal experience in the Mining industry. Very touching to see how the Marcinelles tragedy in our own country, in which hundreds of mostly Italian miners died through the criminal negligence of the State, had repercussions even in this small place in Sardegna. The volunteers are working on building a true hands on experience to show how hard life was for the unfortunates who had to work here.
