This forms part of the tour of the castle, it is a small museum and is separate from the castle apparently. They are both small but compliment each other perfectly as by themselves they would be too small to make the walk up the hill to the museum and castle worth it. If you are in Castelsardo give them a visit.

You pay a fair price for a visit to the castle the museum, and the view over Castelsardo. You learn something about the history of the castle, but mainly it is about the art of braiding: baskets, bottles... But it is more than that, if your are willing to take the time for it. We did it with a 5-year old and he liked it as well.

If you are staying in Castelsardo then you really should visit the castle. The entry fee into the museum is €2 each. Not much in the museum apart from wicker baskets but it worth the money just for the views out onto the town and the sea.

Altough it is a paid visit (@ 3 euro pp) it is definitly worth it. See the art of making tools for fishing etc. And outside get up and get a great view over the bay as a defence line in earier ages

I'm sorry to say we found this museum to be extremely boring. They've gone to a lot of trouble to present various aspects of the basket-weaving traditions in Sardinia, but it's still a snoozefest. Great views can be had from the various terraces and bars on the castle rock, so there's no need to visit the castle itself.

We enjoyed the walk up to the castle, around the older part of the town, with the little tucked away restaurants and gift shops. When you reach the entrance, there is a small fee to go inside. The museum itself is quite small so the young children did not get bored, as it was not particularly interactive, but it was nicely set out. I enjoyed seeing some of the artefacts. However, this place is definitely worth a visit for the view from the top of the castle! That was the best bit!

To be honest this is not all that interesting but is part of the fee to the castle. There are displays of various basket waving techniques throughout history.Worth a quick look, there may be something that takes your fancy.

Actually didn't spent much time in the museum, but on the terrace the view is definitely spectacular. At sunset you can actually see the sun going into the sea in a blossom of colours.

This small museum is interesting if you like to see the old hand works of the past like baskets, fishing equipment and more.
The entrance is included on the ticket to visit the castle.

I agree that traditions have to be preserved and shown to the public, but without giving additional information and without being enthousiastic to show stuff, a museum doesn't have any sense.

I got there willing to visit the castle as first goal, and randomly found this exposition.
No extra information was given to me. Most of the handcraft shown there are covered by dirty glass cages. Many of the baskets look like the ones next to them, so there's no real diversity on it.
I would like have seen something more instructive and genuine about this topic... Big efforts have to be made to make this museum interesting
