Underground Cagliari

31 reviews
Much of Cagliari’s fascinating history is hidden beneath the modern city, and with this tour you can explore the warren of caves, tunnels, and crypts that date back centuries. Head underground with a guide to visit the crypts of Santa Restituta and Sant'Efisio, as well as the Salesian School Tunnel used to shelter students during WWII bombing raids and today lit only by candles.

This forms part of the tour of the castle, it is a small museum and is separate from the castle apparently. They are both small but compliment each other perfectly as by themselves they would be too small to make the walk up the hill to the museum and castle worth it. If you are in Castelsardo give them a visit.

Altough it is a paid visit (@ 3 euro pp) it is definitly worth it. See the art of making tools for fishing etc. And outside get up and get a great view over the bay as a defence line in earier ages

We enjoyed the walk up to the castle, around the older part of the town, with the little tucked away restaurants and gift shops. When you reach the entrance, there is a small fee to go inside. The museum itself is quite small so the young children did not get bored, as it was not particularly interactive, but it was nicely set out. I enjoyed seeing some of the artefacts. However, this place is definitely worth a visit for the view from the top of the castle! That was the best bit!

You pay a fair price for a visit to the castle the museum, and the view over Castelsardo. You learn something about the history of the castle, but mainly it is about the art of braiding: baskets, bottles... But it is more than that, if your are willing to take the time for it. We did it with a 5-year old and he liked it as well.

To be honest this is not all that interesting but is part of the fee to the castle. There are displays of various basket waving techniques throughout history.Worth a quick look, there may be something that takes your fancy.
