Really lovely town to stroll around
Aug 2020
Definitely get to Trani, we really enjoyed our time here, arriving a bit before sunset. There is a nice park for the children and plenty of nice roads to wander around in. We heard some live music, enjoyed some pleasant drinks by the harbour and had a very cheap meal.

Old trade port to the Orient
Jul 2020
Once an important trade port to the Orient and starting place of Crusaders like the Templars for Holy Land in the times of the Normans and the Suevian govenrment and Anjou. Aragon rulers did not take care of the place anymore so it lost its power.

Especially good in the evening.
Jul 2019
The port of Trani is not the industrial ports of Bari and Taranto that give life to the economy of Apulia. Here only fishermen bring their morning catch. But they do not break the idyll of Marina. On the contrary, the smell of fresh fish only emphasizes the romance. Especially good here in the evening in good weather. The rocking of pleasure boats, the Campanile of the Cathedral and the illumination from the Ferris wheel. Locals and tourists flit from restaurant to restaurant along the embankment. Melancholically...

Marina

Trani marina is beautiful. The whoel area is surrounded by gorgeous bars and restaurants, plus the shops close by, and of course the gelato - fabulous place to visit.

A real Italian Gem.

What a fabulous place Trani harbour and port is.
It’s not commercialised, no shops selling plastic swords or fridge magnets, just beautiful old buildings, most which serve stunning food and drinks.

The fishing boats add even more atmosphere to the place. At night the lights just make a perfect picture.

One of Italy’s hidden jewels. Pay a visit, just lovely.

Must see and experience
Jun 2019 • Couples
There is nothing better than a morning walk where you see the fisherman returning with their boats selling fresh seafood along the shores. In the afternoon from 16h00 you see the town coming alive - there are numerous restaurants, coffee shops and 'Gelateria' along the promenade ..... it's is amazing how many people are flocking to the "Porto" in the afternoon, the huzzle and the buzzle is amazing, it feels like a different town in the afternoons.

Small, pretty fishing port

This port grows on you. Different things happen at different times of the day, so keep popping back to see what's new. Lovely to walk, eat, drink or just sit.

A place where you can just “chill”
May 2019 • Solo
This place was like an Italian Aberaeron. I visited here at the end of May. It was a boiling hot sunny day (I immediately turned a bright shade of lobster!) - perfect weather to enjoy the gorgeous view of the boats and the Adriatic sea. You can take a gorgeous walk along the harbour, admire the view and breathe in the smell of the sea. If you just want to sit and enjoy the view, there are plenty of opportunities to do that too. There are many, many restaurants all along the harbour where yoy can sit and relax with a drink and a bite to eat, and just enjoy the view. I definitely want to come back here.

Full of activity

I hate ostentatious ports so this was wonderful to experience because it is quite the opposite. Lovely boats, fisherman selling their catch, quite a few restaurants and bars, icecream shops and people everywhere enjoying the afternoon. Thoroughly enjoyed our time here.

Interesting area walking along the docks, first time visit
Dec 2018 • Family
While on a trip to Italy, and staying at a relatives home in Ruvo, we drove to Trani late in the afternoon after a visit to Castel del Monte. We parked near the docks and watched as a couiple fishing boats unloaded their catch. After walking to the nearby church and castle we walked back and saw another boat come in and bought fresh shrimp to take back to where we were staying and cook them. They were in plastic bags and when we went to cook them two hours later, they jumped out of the pan. Fresh is best. The kids enjoyed watching the octopus trying to get out of the buckets
