The Conero Riviera stretches south of Ancona, the capital city of the Marches region in central Italy and it includes the bay of Portonovo and the villages of Numana and Sirolo.
It is a preserved natural area with mount Conero - roughly 600 m. high - falling into the sea and creating a series of little beaches and bays of great beauty. Most beaches have cobble stones and pebbles, not sand but this gives the water almost amagic colour. THese 3 beaches have all achieved the blue flag for the cleaness of water and quality of services, especially restaurants that are of outstanding quality.

The views are incredible and it is not too crowded. Great restaurants on the beach, Sirolo is a lovely village. Great camping!

After travelling in many places in Italy we finally found this true jewel of the Adriatic sea, Sirolo and Riviera del Conero.

Here we found all the ingredients for a perfect vacation; friendly and helpful Italians, unspoiled nature, mointain and the sea, crystal clear water, pebble beaches, tasty food and the warming sun also in the early springtime and in the autumn.

We highly recommend!

It's a very nice place, not too many people, decent infrastructure but by the time you get there you're all irritated and pissed by the amount of time it takes to park a car. Signs take you all the way down to the parking lot right above the beach through a very steep and twisty road, which has to manage a hefty amount of traffic, and once you get there it turns out all the lots are taken (why not devise a way to inform tourist at the top of the hill?). So now you climb back to Sirolo and it's all a haze of streets with parking restrictions. Better leave your car in one of public parkings, off the center, buy a bus ticket 1,5€ and ride back to the beach.

If you've a head for heights and can cope with the difficult descent down to the "due sorelle" (two sisters) rocks/cove it's certainly worth it. Small pebble beach, crystal clear water but no sunshine after about 2pm in August so go early to catch the sun but later for tranquility and privacy. The ascent is easier although steep and not for the faint hearted. A boat will take you from Numana around the corner but costs about 20 Euros.

This section of the Adriatic Riviera is packed with locals who come to enjoy one of the more rugged and naturally stunning spots in Italy. The beaches and hiking spots are not for the faint-hearted but pay off your walking and exercising efforts with stunning views, gorgeous water and delicious seafood served by excellent staff. If you want immersion for your language skills, for relaxing like an Italian or for the food this is the place to be. The towns of Sirolo, Humana and Marcelli are strung out like jewels along the eastern coast. With some persistence we figured out the village bus systems, which bar owners were most likely to allow impromptu dance parties and the less traveled paths to the beaches. For an extra relaxing day, pack up your beach bag and take the ferry ride over to Due Sorelle beach - its less crowded and more primitive but well worth the ticket.

If you are not far away - come here! Probably this is one of the most impressive places around Ancona. Very nice, even if weather is not perfect.

a real jewel! the coast is amazing, the water cristaline. the parkinspaces too few and really expensive... (the automats seldom take coins only notes...) still you have to calculate 15min walk down to the coast, but then you can find beautiful spots.

Stunning scenery, beautiful blue sea, one of the best beaches I have ever been to, even though it was extremely crowded in August. Swimming in the sea during the hottest heatwave I have ever witnessed was an absolute delight!

The Conero Riviera is hardly known outside of Italy but it is a jewel that will repay a visit many times over. The white cliffs provide a dramatic backdrop to the Adriatic and the inland hills are verdant.
