In my first weeks in MIT as a visiting scholar, I have stopped by this bookstore every evening! Once I have seen an independent and academic bookstore close to Columbia University, but it was closed later. However, this remains as vibrant as possible. Fantastic variety...More

A very nice bookstore, very full and exciting, a bit old-fashioned in a good way (lovely old storefront), with well-organized shelves and a large selection. Only two drawbacks: no bathrooms available, and very crowded.

There's nothing like an old fashion bookstore. This place is great and it's fun to wander around and get lost for an hour looking through their great selection. They also offer some used books. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Visited years ago. This is still a paradise for nerds of all types. The upstairs is all new books and the dungeon below, a treasure trove of used books of all kinds. So fun to see it again and spend an hour browsing among the...More

If you are visiting Harvard Square, and want to see a real local bookstore, forget the coop, which is a re-branded Barnes and Noble. The Harard Bookstore is the real deal. A classic independent bookstore with a good pulse on the local community -- namely,...More

I order all my books through Harvard Book Store now just to support them. Their speaker series is incredible, their selection is excellent, their staff is genuinely enthusiastic, and they really work to foster a sense of community. Just a perfect all-around book store.
