Very nice ride. Hella horses are really horse loving people. Horses are taken very well care off (which we feel is key when it comes to animals). Very nice ride across the country side. Small groups. Communication was very easy. Really great fun for, in our case, tja family! Would definitely recommend it. And next time we’re in Iceland we’ll do it again!

If you like horseback riding, you should definitely ride an Icelandic horse when visiting Iceland. The horses have an unusual gait, called a tolt, which is similar to a trot, but easygoing—just sit in the saddle and enjoy the ride.
The outfit will match a horse to your riding abilities. The trail takes you to a small waterfall. It was a fun adventure for riders with little to no experience on a horse. The leader chats about the history of the area and Icelandic horses while you are on the ride.

We had a wonderful experience on an introductory ride today. It was the first time my four year old had been on a horse. Danielle was great with him and he didn't stop smiling the whole hour. The horses were very well behaved and gentle. The guides were patient and fun.
Both of my kids declared this was their favorite experience in Iceland - which is saying something since it rained nearly the whole time with blustery wind gusts pelting us all.
Wear the right weather gear and take advantage of this experience!

I visited with a group of 9 and had a fabulous time! Some of us were new & inexperienced riders, others more comfortable on horseback. The horses were very well behaved and the guides made me feel safe yet adventurous. Our 1 1/2 hour ride led through beautiful fields of lupine, by a river, up and down the banks and across a creek. We rode at a walk and at a gait like a trot, but smoother for the rider. We stopped for photos at the river and in the fields of flowers. It was delightful! Don't miss it!

We went on a 90 minute ride with Hella horse rental, most of our party inexperienced riders. Lovely ride, brisk at times, through the country near the Ranga River, lovely stop near a beautiful waterfall.
Excellent guiding, horses, great time.

We were 6 of a family with a little one of 5 who had barely never ride.
We had an extraordinary ride with the little one on his own horse on leash with the guide, and then on his own.
Pace, canter, tölt, the guide gave him an experience in two hour worth a year of riding lessons .
For the rest of the family, the sceneries, the horses, the rivers, everything was excellent.
Thank you again.

Our little family with 8 yr old boy and little riding experience, didn't really know what to expect when we simply called Hella Horse rental and asked for a guided riding tour the same afternoon. They were super friendly on the phone and accommodated our tight schedule. Just off the ring road they were easy to find. Ingi and Sigurborg took care to match the horses to the riders and helped us with the gear. After we felt acquainted enough with the horses we rode out into the Lupine fields, and black sands, crossed little rivers and visited a waterfall. We enjoyed the smooth tölt and gradually increased speed (not sure if we were truly galloping, but if felt pretty fast). Not in a single moment we felt unsafe. Sigurborg answered all our nosey questions about the horses and Iceland with a smile, while kindly taking pictures of us in action. Simply put it was a blast!
The next morning we originally had Blue Lagoon on our plan before heading to he airport, but we asked our boy about his preference and without hesitation he answered he wants to return to ride Fúsintes again. He did not need to twist our arms, one phone call, and 2 hours later we were back in the saddle. Anna lead us on different paths, but we had the same joy riding through the stunning scenery.
In our next Iceland vacation we will surely include a half or full day horseback excursion with Hella horse rental! Can't wait!

I went on the 2-hour tour and although it rained quite a lot and we got soaking wet, i really had an amazing experience. My guide Anna was super nice and a lot of fun. This was my first time on an Icelandic horse and i fell in love with them! My horse was so excited for the ride and had so much power and character, but was also very easy going. If we weren’t leaving soon i would definitely have gone on a second ride with them.

I have booked a tour and will be driving to the location. Is the google map location for Hella Horse Rental accurate so that I could route myself to it?
Written June 28, 2017
I did not drive myself there or use GPS; however, the location is on a main road and is clearly marked. Have fun!

Hi,
The Icelandic horse is very strong even though it is small.
As long as the rider feels comfortable and can get on and off the horse without any major problem it should be okay.
Best regards,
