Be ready to drive a lot to meet people there which gonna ask some money from you even that it’s not mentioned anywhere. The price is 1000 isk for adults and smth about 500 isk for kids. If you don’t have an Icelandic bank ac to transfer your money or Icelandic cash - pay in euros which multiple the real price. And as long as they charge you and there is no receipt, is it legal?
There is no toilet, you can step on cigarette butts or to find some plastic between stones, the owner provides you baskets, some of them are broken. And be ready to be kicked out if people come (smb wants only to earn probably).
Smth about 1 h you will be able to stay inside.
Secret lagoon is close by. Good luck!

We had a terrible experience there. We were greeted by a really rude boy who demanded that we pay before when we asked him if we could go walk up to the pool. We decided to take a dip and pay afterwards but the boy came and yelled at us that we pay now or he would get his parents so they could yell at us. I was trying to be polite but this boy was super rude.

A genuinely unique experience to Iceland. How many times in your life will you get to soak in a natural hot spring that hasn’t been turned 100% into a tourist trap? This is way off the beaten path and they do a great job limiting the numbers.

Do not go if you’re the least bit shy though. You’re changing into your swimwear right in front of god and anyone else that’s there at the moment. I’m not exactly shy so it wasn’t an issue.

Warm, relaxing and like most of Iceland an absolutely unmatched view.

Calm with no people whatsoever in this Covid day´s and very relaxing. Nature as is. More or less 100km from Reykjavik. Bring a GPS because it is not so easy to find. Little house for changing cloths. Bring at least 1000 Isk to pay a small fee. I did like it.

We ended up here on a whim because another hot spring around the corner was “too hot” for visitors. We are so happy we found this little gem. There is a car parked at the entrance where you pay a small fee ($24 US for two adults and two children). After a short hike, approx 5 minutes, you’ll find the spot. There was another couple when we arrived. Two pools; the bottom pool is more natural with the top pool seeming to be the main pool. It’s well kept. You can change in the small building there. Our daughter (12) was creeped out by it - possibly too much nature. Haha, but our son (10), my husband and I absolutely loved it. Water is warm - not too hot. Thank you to the owners for allowing visitors access to your property.

Hidden away from main routes lies little thermal pool with interesting history. Original purpose was to wash sheep :)

It is on private grounds but there is nice parking lot and well maintained path to the pool. Also there is money box to put (optional) entrance fee of 1000 ISK. The place shows, that owner takes care of this place, so please be honest and pay.

Best time to go is morning as it can get overcrowded easily. I'd say that to be comfortable, it's for 10 people maximum.

I don't understand the hates here. Nobody forces you to go here and pay 10 euros. You can always go to the nearby "secret lagoon" where you pay at least the double and secret is just the name. This is really secret, as nobody can see it until coming like 20 meters to this place. And it's really natural, nothing commercial, that is the best on it. P.S. We were completely alone here 😍.

I'm the owner of Hrunalaug and I want to explane something. We are strugling with keeping this wonderfool place in the way my grandfather and great grandfather build it more than 100 years ago. It takes a lot of work and costs a lot. This is a privat property and nobody is forced to go into it. But a lot of people say this is the top of there trip to Iceland. So insted of shaming is, thank us for letting you go in to it. Those of you who want fancy facility go to other places. But if you ára looking for romantic ore adwenture come to Hrunalaug💞

One of our favourite experiences in Iceland! So beautiful and peaceful and we thought £10 was a very good price considering how amazing this place is. Water was lovely and warm everywhere but warmest in the rectangular area. Unforgettable, very grateful the owners allow tourists to enjoy it. Definitely recommend!

Visited here today and braved the cold to dip in the warm water. Met the owner who came when we were there to do the daily housekeeping required. Fabulous place, not too crowded as i dont think tour operators go there yet!!! Well worth the visit but don't get your hair wet or forget your towel!
