Little gem
Aug 2021
Hidden away from main routes lies little thermal pool with interesting history. Original purpose was to wash sheep :)

It is on private grounds but there is nice parking lot and well maintained path to the pool. Also there is money box to put (optional) entrance fee of 1000 ISK. The place shows, that owner takes care of this place, so please be honest and pay.

Best time to go is morning as it can get overcrowded easily. I'd say that to be comfortable, it's for 10 people maximum.

Nice place , would visit again

Went there with my partner and two kids (3 and 5y). We enjoyed the place . Water was not too hot and steady temperature so kids could go as well. Some sand on bottom with some algae on rocks but less then in many other nature pools/baths. Maybe 1000isk is a bit pricey , kids went for free which was nice. Also you can check pool before you pay. Only they really should put some Wc there , changing cabin smelled a bit like urine .

Nature as is.
Feb 2021
Calm with no people whatsoever in this Covid day´s and very relaxing. Nature as is. More or less 100km from Reykjavik. Bring a GPS because it is not so easy to find. Little house for changing cloths. Bring at least 1000 Isk to pay a small fee. I did like it.

If the owner ever see this review : you are an amazing individual.
My wife and I visited your place again and again for the past 5 years and we fall in love with it every single time.
The place is well maintained (even got upgraded) and is a unic gem.
To whoever wish to visit : please respect the place (I cleaned other visiters' trash every time...) and seize the moment. This is unic place and the donation is highly deserved.

Long drive , was lucky as hardly anyone there.

Me and my partner got here thinking this was a donation experience, it is not it is 1000isk per adult , before you can even see the pool. We were lucky that hardly anyone was there, the changing room is an open shed with a door that doesn’t even have a handle, my best advice would be put your bathing suit underneath your clothes and try to keep your stuff in the car as there isn’t a lot of room in there. The pools them selfs are a perfect temperature, there is a deeper pool to the left of the shed and two shallow ones but they are all connected. I would personally try get to this early as this will give you the best chance at having it to your self. It was an experience that you really wont get anywhere else but I’d say the amount of people there will effect how good your overall experience will be.

I just loved the view and the warm water! We also had really good luck with the weather! I recommend this place for everyone who visit Iceland and wants to relax in a warm geothermal pool.

I don't understand the hates here. Nobody forces you to go here and pay 10 euros. You can always go to the nearby "secret lagoon" where you pay at least the double and secret is just the name. This is really secret, as nobody can see it until coming like 20 meters to this place. And it's really natural, nothing commercial, that is the best on it. P.S. We were completely alone here 😍.

I'm the owner of Hrunalaug and I want to explane something. We are strugling with keeping this wonderfool place in the way my grandfather and great grandfather build it more than 100 years ago. It takes a lot of work and costs a lot. This is a privat property and nobody is forced to go into it. But a lot of people say this is the top of there trip to Iceland. So insted of shaming is, thank us for letting you go in to it. Those of you who want fancy facility go to other places. But if you ára looking for romantic ore adwenture come to Hrunalaug💞

1000 isk or 10€ (155 isk = 1€)
Jun 2020 • Friends
Be ready to drive a lot to meet people there which gonna ask some money from you even that it’s not mentioned anywhere. The price is 1000 isk for adults and smth about 500 isk for kids. If you don’t have an Icelandic bank ac to transfer your money or Icelandic cash - pay in euros which multiple the real price. And as long as they charge you and there is no receipt, is it legal?
There is no toilet, you can step on cigarette butts or to find some plastic between stones, the owner provides you baskets, some of them are broken. And be ready to be kicked out if people come (smb wants only to earn probably).
Smth about 1 h you will be able to stay inside.
Secret lagoon is close by. Good luck!
