After reading about this, we thought that we would stop and see this. I am glad that we did. The people were very knowledgeable. No souvenirs available on-site, but available near the entrance to the cemetery. Very solemn moment while visiting and paying our respects....More

The tomb was very interesting. They no longer allow you to walk up the stairs outside of the tomb. Very disappointed by that but overall still a good place to visit and reflect. The bronze statues are amazing inside.

We visited Springfield on our Route 66 trip, and this was one of the must see places. We are glad we stopped here and viewed the tomb, and entered the inside with a docent who explained and answered questions.

The monument over the tomb is impressive and you can go inside. Lots of brass sculptures. No souvenirs. Lincoln is buried 10' below the headstone rotunda. Mary Todd Lincoln & 3 of their 4 children are buried there in vaults. Not much parking. It's inside...More

Very humbling to see. Being in front of the tomb makes you feel closer to history and you realize the gravity of the way he died.

Run by the State Park service you get a sense of the 19th century inside the tomb, which you have to think is grander than Lincoln would have wanted. Well worth a quick visit after doing the family home and the Presidential Museum.

Located in a mid-size cemetery, the tomb is the highlight. People are reverent while visiting the site. There are plaques on walls with some highlights from Lincoln's time in office and also an explanation as to the absence of one of his sons. There other...More

Beautiful setting for the burial of Lincoln and his family. Solemn but classy. The rest of the cemetery is beautiful also. This should be your last stop if you are seeing the Lincoln Sites in Springfield.

Probably about a 4 mile car ride. I don't think they have busses that go there.

I'm sure it is. It doesn't cover a large area in any case.
