We really enjoyed wandering the gardens. The grounds are broken up into different themes - children's, Japanese, herb, mini-railroad, English gardens to name a few. There are several worthwhile areas, and since this is a large area that could accommodate more specialties in the future. I recommend hopping on the free tram, which offers off and on service (providing there... More

We went as a family to the gardens. We took the first tram and got to see the majority of the park first from the tram. We enjoyed wandering in the conservatory and stopped for a coffee break in the atrium area. They also have a terrific gift shop. Then we went back outdoors to return to one of the... More

We visited on a perfect Saturday afternoon. The park is huge, much larger than we anticipated. It is hilly, but we walked the whole grounds in an hour and a half. However, we got there a bit late, so we were close to closing time. It's quiet, relaxing, and apparently August was a great time to go because everything was... More

Lauritzen is relatively young, compared with the long established botanical gardens that we are used to visiting. It has good "bones" -- a thoughtfully designed layout, nice pathways, and impressive conservatories. But it's not yet fully planted or fully grown in. However, there are lots of flowers and plants to admire in the meantime, plus an enormous outdoor model train... More

Went there to fill some time before a flight and walked into the Corn Festival. The grounds are beautiful and very well maintained. We very much enjoyed walking the grounds and even saw the large locomotives up on the hill. And for $10, a bargain. Been to others not half this nice and twice the price. If you like gardens... This is a little difficult to find, but with a good GPS you will be ok. Don't forget to walk across the street and go to see the railroad cars overlooking the interstate and the river! Inside you will find many gardens and paths. Even a HUGE mini train setup. My kids actually enjoyed this more than I thought they... More

Nice area to walk around. The children's area had a corn maze and sunflower forest that my toddler really enjoyed. Bottled water is available at the front desk and cafe is open from 10-2.

We took our family that was visiting from out of town, taking the tram tour and ending with a walk through the greenhouse. This place is simply spectacular. Even if you are not a "plant" person, you can't help but marvel at the beauty of the gardens, the carefully maintained landscaping, and the view.

They have a summer concert series held outdoors on the lawn. Various local artists on a rotating basis. You can bring in a picnic + wine & beer or purchase food onsite. There is a shuttle/tram service from the parking lot to the entrance. Get there early! It is better to buy a season membership in the long run, as... More
