After a twenty minutes walk from my hotel NH Weinheim a was happily surprised when I reached the market place. The surroundings was very well kept. The area had a lot off restaurants and the area was pittoresk and well worth a visit.

Homecoming
Oct 2018 • Couples
My husband and I were here so I could visit my family. It was a wonderful day walking around here, knowing that my mother and her sister use to play here when they were children. It is a beautiful place to visit, not far from the marketplace. My mother and her sister played in the little canal that goes thru it, so of course my cousin and I had to do it too!

The whole purpose of this place is to lure you into the old german tanner village mentality. They did a nice job of retaining the charm of a old dorf. Nice evening walk and tons of places to eat and chill.

Cute little town
Jul 2017 • Friends
I grew up in Weinheim. And there is so much to say about the Altstadt (old town). First off: the Marktplatz (market place). It has many cute cafés and restaurants, most of which I would recommend, suited for all meals of the day. Especially sitting outside in the summer time is really enjoyable. At the top and the bottom we have two churches, the top one being more prominent. The Marktplatz is also the main showcase for many events, such as Fasching (carneval), Sommertagszug (lighting of the snowman), Kerwe (lots to eat+drink) and the Weihnachtsmarkt (christmas market - also lots to eat and drink). The upper part of the Marktplatz leads up to the castle and the castle gardens, which are also showcase to concerts and the medieval market in the summer time. The lower part leads to the Gerberbachviertel (where the tanners used to live in medieval times), which has cute streets and many timbered houses. The main street is for pedestrians only and it has shops to satisfy most basic shopping needs.
It's a nice part of town to walk around and relax, and it also holds a lot of history, if that interests you.
All ages will have a good time here and Weinheim hopes to see you soon!

A hidden gem
Sep 2017
We stayed in Weinheim for a family wedding and were pleasantly surprised by the charm of the place. Certainly I would not misinform the reader by saying there is a lot to do in the town. However, a day or two wondering through the main shopping st, eating in the market square and trekking up to the castle would not disappoint. Every German town has these things but, after visiting many a German town, I would have to say Weinheim was my favourite. It was all so pretty and non-touristy. The town also offers a convenient location to do a day trip to Heidelberg.

A great afternoon visit
Sep 2017 • Couples
Since we had just arrived to Germany we wanted to spend some time outside of our hotel yet not go far and find ourselves exhausted from international travel. Our receptionist suggested going to Weinheim which proved to be an excellent choice, only 20 minutes from our hotel and small enough to enjoy a few hours for a first impression of a German town. We found the Altstadt charming with its many shops and restaurants, and enjoyed walking in the large park near our parking area in the center of town. We even saw a small wedding reception near the pond area. A perfect place for a few hours of relaxation.

Wonderfull old town and gardens
Apr 2017
Weinheim has a great old town with nice historic Buildings, a very charming market place with many restaurants and bars, 2 castles, and also many beautiful parks and gardens. Two gardens I will highlight: 1. the "Hermannshof" A visit in the trial garden Hermannshof gives great pleasure in every season, because there's always something flowering. If you visit the garden regularly, you can see the changing plant images during the year. Every time you will visit the garden the flowers are different and bloom different. 2. "Exotenwald". Exotic why you can find here different trees which are normally not will find in this area in Europe like California cedar, Chilean monkey puzzle tree, sequoias or Japan magnolia trees. Via nice and interesting different trails with nice viwes you can find all this trees.
Weinheim is placed on the "Bergstrasse" and also called as little German Toscana because the spring started here normally 2 or 3 weeks earlier as in the rest of Germany. The market place with big old trees and old houses, many restaurants (you will find different Restaurants like Germany food, Italian food (incl. Pizza), Spanish food,...) is a very charming place for lunch or dinner, but also to spend some time to trink wine or beer, to meet with friends and so on. In the "Gerberbachviertel" you will find many small Alleys with old, restored houses. Don't miss this!

What a lot to see.

Surprised by the parks and collections of plants and trees. The Hermann Hof garden was the best for an easy walk to see most. The Museum was also fascinating and worth an effort to go in.

Atmospheric gem
Jun 2017 • Family
The old town at Weinhein is a great surprise. The main Square is lined with bars and restaurants, cafes and ice cream emporiums.
Family friendly but lively enough for older ones too.
The restaurants are all slightly different but each one we visited was good. Around the Marktplatz are little streets to explore, there is a lovely park in the town and a more modern shopping street and mall, both of which, on a Saturday, were full of life and (classical) street musicians.
Surrounded by hillsides and with two castles standing proud above the Town, this is a great place for a weekend get-away.
