Lassen National Park hiking are some of the most beautiful trails in Northern California. Stay in the little town of Chester on your visit. The best western there has awesome complimentary breakfast every morning. Head to the visitor center for information on the best hikes!

We visited two days in a row. The first day we hiked with the kids on the one mile trip on the snow covered road, and enjoyed sledding. The second day the adults came back and snow shoed to Mill Creek Falls.

I always had an idea of what Lassen NP might be like--dry, barren, and treeless. Thankfully I was COMPLETELY wrong! This is one of the most incredible National Parks I've ever been to with boiling mud pots, lush forests, snow patches, snowy blue lakes, meadows,...More

I would like to recommend this volcano as its trail was a challenge one to climb up than before we hiked. The height was not an issue but sand trail. This is first time I heard my heartbeat a lots during we're climbing up. The...More

My husband is a science teacher and did not realize we were within driving distance of visiting Larsen when we decided to vacation in North Lake Tahoe. This is a day trip for sure (3+ hour drive), but well worth it if you have the...More

The volcanic activity in the park is similar to Yellowstone on a smaller scale and fun to observe. Everything is close and easy to access.

A gem in N. California - beautiful just to drive through but also many great hikes and stops along the way. Pack food as there are limited places to stop.

At Lassen Volcanic we did two trails and liked them very much. Starting in the south, Sulfur works was nice to see and we got excited to see more. Bumpers Hell is a must-see! Trail to go there was easy. We also hiked the trail...More

This was our first time through the park although we have driven by many times. I regret that we hadn't stopped sooner. The place rivals many of the western national parks like Mt. Rainer and yes, to some extent, Yellowstone. Mt. Lassen has a trail...More
