About
I am a stall holder on the antiques market and it is a super colourful place to work and visit. The market is on every sunday from around 8 am, there is a general markey selling local produce and many other things to tempt you. Along the Ave 4 hostages there is the antique market that is open all day, there is a variety of antiques and unique different things to look at and purchase as a souveneer from provence. Each year there are 2 INTERNATIONAL ANTIQUE FAIRS one at Easter and the other is over the 15th August each year when the whole town explodes with antiques, art and wierd and wonderful things to buy and look at. Check it out and come along you will not be dissapointed.

Unlike typical markets laid out in rectangles, this tourist trap winds round the canal, forcing you to walk past stall after stall selling overpriced junk. The goods generally aren’t French, nor are the buyers local.

The main interest is guessing whether the next stall has applied a 3, 5 or 10 times markup to its wares. Unless you want to pay €20 for bracelets sold in supermarkets for €2, avoid it like the plague.

It’s no more representative of France than Leicester Square is of England.

The town has numerous canals around it and some old water mills.
The village is invaded by the market on Sunday morning: you can wander among local products, clothes, household linen, flowers and plants for growing the vegetable garden, etc.
There are also open shops and numerous bars where you can then take a lunch break.
In the afternoon it is possible to visit the many places used as antiques markets and also modern art galleries.

Nice place with pretty alleyways. The market is huge, completely overcrowded even at the end of October, overpriced, very tourist-oriented. Hardly any organic products on offer. Parking spaces overcrowded, restaurants and cafes overcrowded and expensive.

Sadly, I would have to agree with some of the other reviewers. I had high hopes as the area has been billed as comparable or even better than antique markets in Paris. Not by a long shot. It was crowded, tacky, overpriced, horrible to park and completely lacking in antique vendors. There were some permanent, higher end, high priced antique dealers down a little laneway but that was not what I was there for. Isle sur-la-Sorgue is a pretty little place that offered a scenic drive from Aix but not worth it at all.

Have loved many previous visits to L’isle sur la sorgue but this year we visited on a non market day, a Friday, arrived at 10.30am and there was simply nowhere to park. We drove round and round for half an hour and gave up, every square inch of space had cars parked. If visitors are to be encouraged then a plot outside town needs to be opened up. Get there very early or go elsewhere is my advice.

Lots of people, lots of food, lots of antiques, and lots of clothes and lots of fun, all accompanied by the soothing sounds of running water in the river. Our wives bought some beautiful scarves, and we loaded up on food to take back to our apartment. Probably the most dynamic and energetic market in Provence. Don't miss this one!

City and market very nice, diverse, pleasantly relaxed, only missing the promised antiques. The antiques suburb partly closed despite market day, poor quality, completely inflated prices and that should then be France's 2. And Europe's 3. Be junk/antique town? Yeah.

If you love farmers markets or antiques or flea markets or general people watching, you must put this on your list for Sunday. Be forewarned to arrive early for parking. We were aware, but still barely made it in time. All the lots were full, but we found street parking. It's known as "Venice of Provence" and the town itself is so picturesque. It was packed with people and so many treasures. Copper pans/pots, great clothes, lavender everything, herbs, musicians....You really have to buy something when you see it, because you may not be able to retrace your steps. Lots of great local food to buy for a picnic and also tons of cafes to stop to get refreshed & recharged. Come prepared to walk.

A magnificent market which is very large and located in the city center. You can find everything there (vegetables, fruit, clothes and so on). You will be able to see the Sorgue river, a good part of the market with bridges, water wheels
