Our experience with Papillon for the most part was excellent. The flight to and from the West Rim of the Grand Canyon was absolutely fantastic and the pilots were very engaging. We opted for the Skywalk at Eagle Point and thankfully had tickets in advance. There was still a big line up though and had to wait quite a long time to get to the Skywalk. Overall, I would skip this option as you cannot take photos and instead are subjected to having photos taken by the group that runs the skywalk. We decided to skip the photo line but just ended up being in the way of those having their photos taken. The 2nd pit stop at Guano point is a far better option and provides a much better view of the Canyon, for free. It was quite breathtaking and was a much better place to take pictures. The only major issue we had was on our return back to the hotel via Papillon shuttle. Hopefully this was an isolated incident but they were extremely unorganized as a few groups returned from different excursions at the same time. There were 3 shuttle buses and 5 staff members trying to figure out who was taking who and we, along with several other guests were transferred from shuttle to shuttle. On the 4th transfer, 30 minutes later, we were finally on route back to our hotel.

We did the Grand Canyon Experience tour (West Rim) and enjoyed every minute of it. Got some great aerial shots including pictures of the Hoover Dam. The flight was 35 mins each way and there was enough time to explore the 2 main sites (Eagle Point and Guano Point), plus get lunch at the restaurant with view of the Skywalk. Everything from the shuttle pick up/drop off went smoothly. I recommend it!

We used GCSA as part of a Papillon tour which included Hotel Pickup, GCSA return flight from Boulder City to Grand Canyon, Helicopter flight into canyon and Pontoon Boat Tour. Everything went extremely well. The GCSA flights were excellent, including staff at airport as well as the Pilots. Overall, the package was pricy, but well worth it.

We knew we wanted to see the Grand Canyon while we were in Vegas. Didn't want to spend 10 hours on the bus, but didn't want to pay for the helicopter either. The Grand Canyon Deluxe package ended up being the perfect middle of the road choice. We had a rental car anyways because we were off-strip, so we drove to Boulder City. They would have picked us up at the Grandview, but I chose not to so we could go to Hoover Dam afterwards. That worked out very nicely. We took the early morning flight. It left at 6:15, but I think when you reserve the morning, they leave at different times throughout the morning and you can't pick exactly which one you go on. That turned out to be a good choice - the weather started to get warm in the afternoon but it was quite pleasant in the morning. That also made for a smoother flight. There was a noticable difference in turbulence between the morning and afternoon flight back. It was an hour flight on a 8 passenger plane. I was a little worried that the smaller plane might be rougher then big jet, but it wasn't really. There were a couple of jolts on the flight back that were a bit unnerving, but otherwise very smooth. Everyone had a window seat. I think they only had one of these Cessna's planes and I'm not sure why we got on that one instead of the DeHaviland I was expecting. But it worked out nicely. Hour long flight with plenty of picture opportunities - excellent way to get there. There was a tour bus that took you to 2 different sites. The first one (Angel Point?) was just OK. I think it included the hotel from Vacation, but not sure - they didn't have it labelled or anything. There was some construction going on, but don't think we missed anything. The second stop had the best views and you really appreciated the beauty of the Canyon from there. I think it was supposed to be Maher Point, but they had construction going on. The path along the rim was still accessible. The only thing - you have to judge when it's time to turn back. We didn't do that very well and had to jog back, just barely making it on time. There was an option to add a helicopter flight, but I decided that wasn't worth the extra price. There was 2 people in our group that did do the helicopter and they returned on the same flight as the rest of us, so I think you get the same amount of time at the rim whether you do the 30 min helicopter option or not. I think the difference was we got to relax at the airport before heading back and they pretty much had to go straight from the bus to the plane, without time to even use the bathroom (we ended up waiting for them to do so which was a little uncomfortable for them). Another group wanted to add a helicopter at the last minute and kept badgering people about it. The bus driver did take them in to see if they could, but apparently they were booked up. The flight returned about 12:30 which gave us time to go eat lunch and then get to dam as crowds started to leave, (although should have gotten there closer to 3:00 instead of 2:00). Once they open up the new bridge, you shouldn't have to wait for the security checkpoint, which took us at least 30 minutes to get through. The bridge is even prettier and better to take pictures of then the dam, by the way.
I really think we chose the best option for a day trip to the canyon out of Vegas. As far as I can tell, the only better option is to plan a few days at the Canyon.

Unfortunately last year we had the terrible experience of flying with this company. We were in The States doing our tour we had organised and planned our selves, starting in Vegas driving 1200 miles around the Grand Canyon and ending back in Vegas. The highlight was to be flying over The Grand Canyon.
My partner had booked with them before we went. We had booked a package advertising breath taking AERIAL views of the Hoover Dam, Lake Mead, and of course The Grand Canyon. We also had the indian Skywalk added on.(please see my review on that )
The morning of the trip came and I was so excited. We were picked up outside our hotel and then to pick more passengers up and had a ride to Boulder city airport. This was all fine and no problem.
At Boulder City it was a bit chaotic, different stickers for different people on different tours, we were given a brown sticker , watching the helicopters take off the excitement was building.
At last we were herded out on to the airfeild, into a small prop plane, which we thought was a bit strange, but didnt think any more of it.
After take off we were approaching the Hoover Dam, I had to zoom in full on the camcorder to actually see it !!! Next was the AERIAL views of the Grand Canyon, huh , yeah, sure I was on the right hand side of the plane and all I saw of that was a blip, over a ladies shoulder on the right hand side of the plane, then we landed at Grand Canyon Airport.

We were really confused and so were the elderly couple sitting in front of us. My Partner asked the pilot what was going on and when do we fly over the Canyon? He was told due to flight restrictions they do not fly over the Canyon This was when it hit us !!! That was it !! we were not going to fly over the Canyon at all. We had seen all we were going to see from the air.
We were absolutely heart broken to say the least, and so were the elderly couple, we both said this it not what had been advertised on thier website.
In shock we just went along with everyone else and were put on coaches, which was just a nightmare in itself . No information was given when coaches were returning , or when and where we had to be for lunch, We were dropped off at the skywalk (see review ) I had to walk away from my partner I was so upset I cant describe the feeling, the highlight of our holiday GONE ! We caught a coach back to The Grand Canyon Airport to make sure we were there for the plane as no one had any idea what was going on, and had a 40 minute wait for that !!

On arrival back at Boulder City I must admit I was enraged, and as soon as we were off the plane I confronted the pilot,he could see how angry I was and directed me to customer services.

They could not have cared less.I was given a name, number, and email address to raise my complaint.
On arrival home I sent numerous email's explaining that their website is totally misleading( and still is) when offering aerial tours and how they had ruined our holiday. I even copied pasted and sent it back to them with words such as "AERIAL" and BIRDS EYE".I had no response to apologise at all .Disgusting !!! If your brave enough to choose this company then check check and check again before you book buyer beware

We have just come back from Vegas, and have done The Canyon again after checking reviews again and again, and double checking, thank god we had a fantastic time this time. ( See my reviews)

We recently undertook a Grand Canyon Deluxe with Helicopter tour thinking that we would see & experience more than just the Grand Canyon Deluxe. Pick up was prompt, the trip to the airport comfortable, no problems with the flight. Although the helicopter was a fantastic way to see the Grand Canyon, we spent more time waiting around the heliport than we actually did on the helicopter trip. On being picked up from the heliport we were advised that we were running very late (completely out of our control). We were bused back to Mather Point and given 40 minutes there for photos, exploring & souvenir shopping. We felt robbed with only 40 minutes allowed. I understand about deadlines but these events were out of our control. This was to be the highlight of our trip, but didn't turn out that way.

From las vegas by bus, plane, helicoptor and boat. this was a fantastic afternoon/evening trip. super value for money. Absolutely worth every penny. Excellent organisation throughout. we were picked up on time from our hotel for aircon bus transfer to boulder city airport. then small aircraft for flight to grand canyon overflying hoover dam and lake mead. excellent views and commentry. good large windows. good view of grand canyon on arrival. short wait for heli trip into canyon.....incredible! a short walk down to the colorado river and onto boat. it was a little rough on the path down and with a feww steep steps down to waterside pontoon. however there were several older and less able tourist who seemed to manage this ok.
boat ride was brilliant with the boat driver giving great info about the canyon. he also allowed us all to steer the boat, and allowed time for plenty of photo opportunities. return to helipad with a different route out but just as immpressive flight back up to the rim. then onto skywalk after transfer by bus (only a half mile away). skywalk was a bit of a let down as it wasn't as good a view point or drop as i had expected. (wouldnt do the skywalk if i'd have known this..also no cameras allowed on skywalk). were given an adequate but basic meal after this at a cafe by a super canyon viewpoint. however, there was little time left after doing skywalk to enjoy it or the fantastic views. return by small plane and bus equally efficient as the outward trip. you should definately do this, but without skywalk if you get the chance.

We paid for the full package with Canyon Skywalk Ticket. They over sold the package that day and we were backed up on the Helicopter tour. Due to this, we did not have time to do the Canyon Skywalk (which we paid for). We spoke to the local tour representative. He said "what do you expect when we are this busy". My response, "we expect to get what we paid for". Over selling the tour is not in my control. He said there is nothing he can do. Pretty rude representative for the company.

Scenic Airlines delivered exactly what they promised. They picked us up at our hotel, flew us out to the South rim of the Grand Canyon, transported us to two different points at the canyon rim so that we could explore on our own for a while. It was an amazing day and everything went very smooth. The aircraft have very large windows, so it doesn't matter where you end up sitting and the bus guide was really good and had a lot of knowledge of the Grand Canyon. We will never forget this trip to the Grand Canyon and our only regret is that we didn't stay longer at the canyon itself, but hey, next time.

The Grand Canyon is wonderful: hugely impressive and almost totally unspoilt. We're glad we went and were pleasantly surprised that there has been no attempt to turn it into a theme park. But the whole day was chaotic and badly organised. The service was poor and charmless. Over the course of the day, we spent hours waiting, queueing and trying to get information. We paid $339 each for the plane/helicopter/boat trip, including pickup and return to our hotel, which would have been good value if things had been well run. But we ended up walking the last mile back to our hotel as Scenic failed to properly organise transport. Do go and see the Grand Canyon - don't use Scenic!
