My family of 4 took the “Grand Celebration” helicopter tour with the Papillon company (this company is synonymous with Grand Canyon Helicopters, which is the parent company). The booking process was seamless, but it must be noted that the price quoted via phone was higher than what was displayed online (obviously I booked online). We were picked up by a stretched limousine (no frills, but clean and presentable) and driven the 7 minutes ride (from the Venetian) to the airport. Check-in was easy and the wait in the private lobby area was comfortable. After a short safety video and dunning of a personal flotation device (PFD), we were off to the Grand Canyon. The flight to the Canyon was about 40 minutes and our pilot pointed out all of the highlights (Lake Mead, Hoover Dam, Boulder City, etc.) with a historical narration. We flew through the heart of the Canyon and ultimately, descended several thousand feet until landing in an established zone near the Canyon floor. We given ~10 minutes to roam the area a d take some extraordinary pictures. Papillon provided some chilled champagne, water and light snacks (cheese, crackers, protein bars, cookies) in a picnic area. Reminder, there are no restrooms once you depart the company lobby so plan accordingly. of note, we also passed the “skywalk” area which provided a similar in-flight view as what would be seen from this location. As result, I’m of the opinion that visiting the lower Canyon landing zone is a better option (how often in life will you descend into the heart of the Grand Canyon). This was definitely a “Grand” experience!!!
