My family of 4 took the “Grand Celebration” helicopter tour with the Papillon company (this company is synonymous with Grand Canyon Helicopters, which is the parent company). The booking process was seamless, but it must be noted that the price quoted via phone was higher than what was displayed online (obviously I booked online). We were picked up by a stretched limousine (no frills, but clean and presentable) and driven the 7 minutes ride (from the Venetian) to the airport. Check-in was easy and the wait in the private lobby area was comfortable. After a short safety video and dunning of a personal flotation device (PFD), we were off to the Grand Canyon. The flight to the Canyon was about 40 minutes and our pilot pointed out all of the highlights (Lake Mead, Hoover Dam, Boulder City, etc.) with a historical narration. We flew through the heart of the Canyon and ultimately, descended several thousand feet until landing in an established zone near the Canyon floor. We given ~10 minutes to roam the area a d take some extraordinary pictures. Papillon provided some chilled champagne, water and light snacks (cheese, crackers, protein bars, cookies) in a picnic area. Reminder, there are no restrooms once you depart the company lobby so plan accordingly. of note, we also passed the “skywalk” area which provided a similar in-flight view as what would be seen from this location. As result, I’m of the opinion that visiting the lower Canyon landing zone is a better option (how often in life will you descend into the heart of the Grand Canyon). This was definitely a “Grand” experience!!!

It was a very windy day but the flight was still great. They warned us that we may not be able to land in the Grand Canyon, but we were able to land. We have previously been to the South, North and East side of the Grand Canyon. Viewing Hoover Dam from the air was great and seeing both Lake Mead and the Colorado River was also great. Our pilot pointed out a lot of interesting points of interest. This was our 6th helicopter tour and was one of the best and longest. I would highly recommend paying a little extra for the front seats; it is very well worth it. The amount of time we spent in the canyon was very adequate and the basket of snacks was nice. It included some cookies, a Kind bar, sliced apples, some cheese and crackers, along with some water and champagne. The only thing I would warn people about is you will need to go about 2 1/2 hours between bathroom breaks.

We had a great experience touring the Grand Canyon with Papillon and I would highly recommend this company. We did the west rim tour (7 hour total trip) which included a stop at eagle point and guano point We got picked up from our hotel in Las Vegas on time and then arrived at Boulder City terminal to take a small plane to the rim. The ride was smooth and easy and we got some great views. We got to split time between Eagle Point and Guano Point (eagle point is way more packed and has the skywalk which has a line) but we loved Guano point much more. Highly recommend bringing your own lunch and enjoying at Guano point overlooking the canyon (the food they sell there is not good!) we then flew back to Boulder City.
Customer service at Papillon is top notch to boot!

Terrible experience. Can’t believe I spent so much money on this. My husband and I had originally booked the Grand Canyon west tour the one that takes you to the bottom. We get the the place 1 hour before. We walk in and they process us and then the guy says that due to the weather there is a possibility that they will change our tour and not take us to the bottom of the Canyon. We had requested the front seat and he said it was confirmed and when we get to the helicopter the pilot says no. We wait and then he rushes us to the helicopter with no notice of nothing and 15 before our tour time. We get in the helicopter the pilot is so rude and dry. He takes us around for about 12 minutes. We get back to the airport and they guy rushes us off the helicopter. He offered water at the beginning because it was 115 degrees and gave us nothing. The he says that he knows nothing about the rate change because we were given a different tour but that he thinks it’s a $70 difference per person but to call guest services and they’ll refund it. Now we call and the lady says it’s only a $10 when on their website it is clearly a $50 difference per person. He gave us complimentary entrances to the Grand Canyon because of the inconvenience and now the lady wants to charge us and on refund us $10. NOT WORTH IT AT ALL. Go to the South Rim.

This was a fantastic day out and tour and nothing but good things to say about it.
Hotel pick up was on time and painless. Drive to Boulder City was on point.
Check in at Boulder City airport for the flight to the Canyon was quick and easy.
Boarding (was great being met and greeted by the actual pilot - and she was brilliant and friendly) and actual Flight on the 8 seater (passenger) plane was a pleasure (and that's coming from someone who isn't a great flyer).
Once there, the bus shuttle service from each of the 3 points was a total breeze. Obviously helped that we went off season in January, so no queues whatsoever, and the views at Eagle Point and Guano Point were nothing short of incredible. And the Skywalk experience was something I will never forget.
If I am an Vegas again, I would not hesitate to use Papillon again and I wholeheartedly recommend them.
Cheers
Nathan

Before travelling to Las Vegas we look at alot of trips to the Grand Canyon and because of time restraints chose a tour with Papillon as it suited our criteria. Although it is a 30 minute journey outside of Vegas it doesn't matter because you are collected and returned to your hotel so it enables you to see more of the area. The helicopter ride was absolutley fantastic, the pilot was very knowlegable of the area and attentive to novices like myself who had never flown before. The view of the Grand Canyon was so much better than if you had visited by coach. A very professional company who paid attention to every detail. I would have to say the highlight of my trip to Las Vegas

The views of the Canyon are amazing I just wish Papillon provided what they offered. I would recommend you try a different company to visit the sites or certainly don't pay for any upgrade that will be pushed at you. Overall we felt we didn't get what we were promised and paid for which was the deluxe option at 545 dollars each with limo pickup.
At the helicopter port was we were offered upgrades costing another 100 dollars each for a front seat. I said thought we had booked a helicopter with theatre style seats as part of our deluxe package. The assistant said oh yes you will all be able to see. Next we had to pay a 60 dollar fuel surcharge. The flight was due to leave at 10.15 but it was nearly 11 by the time we left on a helicopter that didn't have theatre seats after all.

Unfortunately, my headphones weren't working properly but once in flight there was nothing the pilot could do so I missed the commentary. The non English speaking Spanish family on the flight were occasionally given prerecorded commentary. Very unsatisfactory. On the West Rim, we were told to be back at the helicopter in 2 hours time rather than the promised 3 hours time needed to look around. If we had taken off on time we would have had our full time there.

Finally, the deluxe trip offered a return flight over the Vegas strip but what we got was the same as all flights get on the return to the helipad and that is a flight adjacent to the strip not over.

Hello Lisa, Thank you for taking the time to alert us to your experience. First, we would like to apologize for the unsatisfactory experience you had during your helicopter tour. We are sorry for the delayed flight and we sincerely apologize that you left the tour disappointed. Fuel surcharges are advised on your booking confirmation letter and during the booking process as well as the front seat request policy. They are not surprises nor are they hidden. We hope to be able to lower the fuel surcharge fee in the future. We are looking into the headphone issue and we apologize for that. The helicopter does in fact feature raised theater-style forward-facing rear seats and wrap-around glass for optimum viewing. Your tour was provided in full and we are not sure why you think your flgiht plan would be different. Tours that leave from Las Vegas feature a Vegas Strip flight on the return from the Grand Canyon. All flights follow the same flight plan and do not differ due to safety reasons. The same can be said about the airspace over las vegas. We offer a Strip flight within the safety guidelines of the city and the FAA. We are sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your experience and we thank you for your review.

Awful experience from start to finish.
Paid for the option of being picked up from hotel in a limousine - a mini bus turned up late, the organiser on the bus said it was full and for us to wait as 'hopefully' another bus is on its way. The bus did come. Very late and not the limousine we paid for.
Once arrived we had paid extra to sit upfront with the pilot, turns out they had taken money from 3 others aswell as us and clearly we couldn't all have the front seat so we had to sit in the back ( this trip was for my husbands birthday and our children had specifically booked the front seat as a surprise treat)
On the return from the canyon before we took off, my husband had made multiple comments to the pilot that something didn't seam right with the door on his side of the helicopter. The pilot shrugged it off and made no attempts to check everything was safe and secure before take off.
The wind/draft was very obvious once in the air and clearly something was not right. We again made multiple attempts to tell the pilot who continued to tell us everything was fine.
Next thing, a huge gust of wind and the door my husband was sat next to flew open and all of us screamed and shouted out for help as I tried to pull my husband away from the edge. The wind was so strong I thought I was going to witness him falling from the helicopter. Thankfully he had his belt on but clearly this is not meant to happen. The pilot completely ignored the situation and didn't acknowledge us or the other people inside the helicopter who were screaming and crying.
We were visibly shaken and distraught on landing and the only thing the lady at the desk had to say was 'oh, my' there was no apology, no duty of care, nothing. I am absolutely appalled at this entire situation. I have damaged my arm due to holding onto my husband vs the wind pulling him toward the opening and we are both still in shock. We cancelled all other excursions that we had planned due to me being in pain plus both of us feel all enjoyment has been taken away from what was a once in a lifetime trip that we saved for so long for. Vegas and the grand canyon helicopter trip is something my husband has always wanted to do and the experience with papillon has completely ruined that. Not only the situation but the customer care we received too.

Please, do not risk using this company.
We paid £1500 as we chose upgrades such as limousine pick up and drop off which was not the case, front seat with pilot which was not the case and to top it off, the door opened mid flight causing us to be left injured, in shock and ruined our holiday.

I completely overpaid for this short helicopter ride over the Las Vegas Strip at night. Don't waste your money on this! At the front desk, they asked me if I wanted a $25 upgrade to a front seat and I declined, thinking the pilot would take in the strip from both sides of the helicopter.

Upon leaving the airport, we went north with all views out of the left window. Over downtown, the pilot turned and then traveled South back to the airport...again, with all views to the left of the helicopter.

I struggled to see above the heads in front of me and the entire trip was a big waste of money.

And if youre expecting to do good photography or videography from a helicopter, do be forewarned there are constant vibrations that make good shots extremely difficult.
