Every time we have out of town visitors….A trip to Hemenway Park is a must. Usually we will do the railroad tunnel hike (easy) then hit Hemenway on our way into Boulder city for lunch. 90% of the times we have visited….the big horn sheep are enjoying the lush green grass.
With plenty of parking and zero cost, it is always a hit

We stopped by on our way back to the strip from the Hoover Dam. I would have been disappointed if we drove all that way just for this park. We didn't see any Sheep. Its a very small park though it is very nice. Would have been great if we had our kids with us but this was an adult only trip. There was a play area the kids would love and the view from the park of the lake is nice.

The bighorn sheep were very majestic. They didn’t seem to mind humans there but I would recommend keeping young children at a safe distance as they are wild animals. The first tune we went at 10am on a day that was not too hot there were no sheep; but the next time we went at 1pm in the afternoon they were there.

This was a must see on our list. You see mostly females and small males up close and personal. If you get there as the sun begins to set, you can watch them climb up into the mountains.
It's fun to see the neighbors put pots of water out for them to drink. While there is no hunting, hunters enjoy seeing these wonderful animals.
If you're in the area, stop there frequently.

Hemenway Park in Boulder City gets you face to face with the wildlife. These Rocky Mtn Sheep are so habituated to people they almost get close enough to touch. Kids playing on the grass and playground don’t bother the sheep at all. What an amazing place. Located on Ville Dr. Off Hwy 93 (Great Basin Hwy). Don’t miss this one.

Came here for a picnic lunch hoping there would be big horn sheep here. We were not disappointed - there were 5 sheep here - 2 rams, a baby and 2 momma sheep. They are majestic creatures and so cool to see up close. They left the park and walked thru the neighborhood to get to the mountain and walked right past us in the car. Please be respectful and do not feed or get too close. A must do if in the area

This was one of my highlights of my trip to Las Vegas. It was only about a half an hour drive. We went about 1pm and the whole herd of big horn sheep had come out of the mountains to graze. They are not very afraid and they come pretty close. Awesome experience. Beautiful animals!

Definitely a must-see while visiting Boulder City or Hoover Dam. Lots of Big horn sheep grazing casually on this large field next to a playground. I recommend not having little kids try and touch or play with these beasts cuz they look tough. Other than that, just a great thing to do that's totally free,

My husband and I also make a stop in Boulder City whenever we visit LV but this was our 1st time stopping at this park. We were not sure what to expect but there were Big Horn Sheep everywhere. They were not bothered by everyone taking their pictures.
There were several coming down from the mountains, many relaxing in the shade and some grazing closer to the bottom of the park.
Just do yourself a favor and check out this park. You will be amazed and it is free.

On a lark, we drove by the park since other reviewers had mentioned big horn sheep. Sure enough, they were there, lounging like they were as tame as could be. We drove through and hiked several national parks on this trip, and this was the only one where we saw any wildlife other than a few deer at the Grand Canyon.

I would guess they would be there. They don't hibernate.

We went around noon and there was a large group hanging out under the shade of a tree.

When is the best time of day to see the big horn sheep? Thank you...

We live nearby. It all depends on the weather. They are _normally_ there all day. Sometimes they are over the hill, or down one side, but the roam the whole area nearly every day.

I believe you do it through parks and recreation department.
