Afraid to jump out of a plane or off a bridge? Let me suggest Flightline in Boulder City! This is a mid-level thrill ride. For some this may be exciting, but I rate it as mild because I consider Bungee Jumping, skydiving and a few other things to be extreme. I found this less “exciting” and more “thoroughly enjoyable.”
I went on a full-moon night ride and it was very cool. I didn’t find any of the four runs to be a loose-your-stomach ride. It was more like a magic carpet ride, or like riding on an extremely long slide. For me, it was peaceful, serene and beautiful. Be prepared for some exercise, as there are two hikes that may tax those who are not used to hiking or stair climbing. This adventure took about 4 hours, not counting the commute (about 30 minutes from the Strip). Smaller groups of big people can get through quicker, but figure on 4 hours. There is an hour for sign-in and briefing. Then, there is a short bus/van ride to the hiking point. You hike up a 20% grade for about 15 minutes to the first run. Though not required, there is about 15 pounds of equipment to carry, per person. Between the second and third runs, there is a 55% grade of steps that will take 5-8 minutes to traverse. The final caveat is weight: 250 pounds is the maximum. 75 is the minimum, but we had an 85-pound girl and she wasn’t heavy enough to make the third run and had to be retrieved. Lucky for her because she got to hang out there on the wire for an extra 15 minutes! Being on the wire is the best part of the adventure, regardless of speed. The harness is very comfortable and the beauty of the full-moon night was great. She even said that that was her favorite part! (Perhaps not so good in daylight on a really hot day, though…) This adventure could be better with the addition of paintball guns and water balloons.
Afterwards we discussed how much better this adventure is than a night clubbing. This is great for groups (ask for discounts), but not for young children (too light) and handicapped (where hiking is an issue). While in BC, check out Milo’s Cellar (wine and food) and Tony’s Pizza, just around the corner.

This is our 2nd zipline experience the 1st being in Jamaica. They are 2 very different rides. The Boulder City line is fast and furious. It is great fun but since you go so fast and are concerned with landing procedures it is a little hard to fully enjoy the experience. There are only 4 ziplines the last being very short and kinda a ripoff. Be prepared to hike up to the 1st line. The hike will take a little out of you if you are not in shape. Also there is a staircase that is pretty steep. Where comfortable shoes! All in all (with our 20% discount) it was cool and fun and I would recommend it. Neither myself or my husband (who was the one who REALLY wanted to do this) would do it again. The zipline in Montego Bay was much better. There were 7 lines and 2 repels. It was fast, but not so fast that you couldnt relax and enjoy the ride and view. We cant wait for our next zipline adventure...somewhere else.

Brilliant. I read some reviews on Blogs that this was overpriced but no way. 2 3/4 hours and you get information about the area, fun guides who are also very safety conscious, great views from Red Mountain, Bottles of Water, a shuttle bus up Bootleg Canyon and 5 (inc. Training Run) runs on ziplines, the longest of which is about 2,500 feet long. Again; brilliant. Easy to find, their website tells you everything www.flightlineadventures.com and No I do NOT work for them. It's a new attraction but once Word of Mouth gets out you'll be on a Waiting List. So in summary: Views, Fun, Ziplines, Trekking, Nature, A Laugh. And because we rented the worlds worst Rental Car from what rhymes with "Hollar" we had a flat tyre and even though the owner Rex had other stuff to do he helped us fix up a new tyre as "Hollar" had not given us any tools to do so. But regardless, I would still have given this a 5/5. And hopefully you are lucky and like us the other people in your group are fun too. Hey if they are like you then they MUST BE. Cheers.

Anthony, 10 years later and just noticed no one ever responded to you. Thank you for being the first to review us. I don't know if you've been back, but before you do please contact me directly - Brina@Flightlinez.com. We'd love for you to see how far we've come.
Thank you Anthony for your positive feedback so long ago. Your word of mouth started us on the right track!

This activity is very expensive for what it entails. After the first run down the zip-wire, which was quite exciting, there was lots of waiting around and the other runs were not as straightforward as the first. The organisers were very good, but due to the wind conditions some people didn't make it to the end and needed to be rescued. This seemed to spoil some peoples enjoyment of the experience.
The scenery was very good but not worth the $150 we paid!.
Overall I don't think this activity is worth the money we paid especially as younger children are the same price as adults.

We appreciate you taking the time to write a review. We understand your concerns with the price. A portion of each ticket goes back to Boulder City to assist in keeping the park preserved and open to the public. Since Feb 2011 we have changed our kids under 12 price to $99 as we understand families would like to enjoy our experience and that could become pricey. There are always discounts available whether they are in a magazine you can find on the strip, in a cab or in your hotel room as well as online. We also have had a Frequent Flightliner Club since Sept 2010. This allows repeat customers to earn FREE tours with us as well as discounted rates.
Again, thank you for your feedback we are constantly trying to better ourselves!

Staff was great, very nice. The actual activity was pretty ho-hum. Just my two cents. My two kids liked it. Four very short runs intertwined amongst 3 hours of waiting, driving, hiking.

Had an extremely good time. Came with my twin 12yr old boys. The guides Andrew and Dave were amazingly knowledgeable and safety concience. Andrew made the day with his comedic style and poise. My boys needed some "superman coaching" coming off of the first takeoff deck and Andrew was very patient. Both of them got stuck on one line and had to be rescued. Which actually turned out to be a good experience for the boys to learn to not to panic, but to trust themselves and have trust in others. The guides were so good at what the were doing they had a positive effect on the confidence of both my children. An absolute must to experience! Again, so much thanks to Andrew and Dave who took a thrilling experience and multiplied the dividends many times over. Thank you!

Got picked up at 8am from Excalibur (nice and convenient as it's on the main strip) and driven out to Bootleg Canyon near Boulder city.
Was a nice drive and got to know the people who would be doing the flightlines with me. Once we got to the office we were suited up in our harness and given a quick safety demonstration before driving up to the top of the mountain, once again the drive was great with our guides providing a lot of entertainment and interesting information for us.
after a short hike up the last part of the mountain (the van can only drive you so far) we started our decent down on the first of four flight lines (as they explain they are longer and thicker wires than a zipline so allow you to go much faster) we reached speeds of up to 70mph on the lines and it was quite a rush!
After completing the four lines they dropped us back to excalibur at around midday, all up about 4 hours but was four of the best hours I had in Vegas.
The team at Bootleg Canyon are just awesome and made the whole experience a pure pleasure for me. Definitely worth including on your next Vegas trip!

This was my first time on a zip line tour and I can honestly say it was the most amazing experience ever! The tour guide instructors were fenomenal and VERY FUNNY they made the whole trip so much fun! It is definitely worth every penny! It's a series of 4 zip line rides and some light hiking and they do supply water. I will definitely reccommend to anyone who wants something to do different other than the strip and gambling of Vegas. This experience is the best thing to do if you are an outdoorsey person or just get tired of doing the shopping and gambling that comes w/Vegas. This will give you the adrenaline rush you are looking for! Can't wait to go back and experience it with my friends.

My best friend talked me into going on the Bootleg Canyon Flightlines trip, and I was not too happy about it until we arrived at the welcome area. Talk about a professional crew of folks. They were positive, clear, pleasant, polite and more fun than a basket of kittens. This was certainly the best activity I have done in the last 15 years of going to the Las Vegas area. I will definitely be going again, and again and again. It was safe, exhilarating, and the views were spectacular. I have told all my friends they must go.

What a great outing!! This zipline is rated number one in the United States and number 8 in the world. Gotta tell ya that this was my first time going on a zip line but it surely won't be my last. Speeds up to 65 mph were reached - - all while laughing and screaming on my way down. Felt very secure and comfortable in the harnesses.
Bottled water is available, for free, at every stop.
Nice, but rough and rocky, ride up to the first take off point with a lot of narration on history about the area.
Staff members were GREAT and had such good personalities.
Be sure that you are in good physical condition to get your buns up the hills before you get to the first take off point. My friend was unable to walk up this steep grade so the guys gave her a piggy-back ride all the way up. What sweethearts to do that. At another steep place, they have made 104 steps with a hand rail so it's much easier to negotiate for us "older" kids.
I can't say enough about how nice everybody was, how fun this trip was and even the other guests got along very well taking pictures of each other coming/going down the various lines.
Bootleg Canyon also runs the zip line at the Fremont Experience - which I didn't get to go on for lack of time, but certainly will next time. There is also a "frequent flyer" program that gives you a discount when you return. FUN, FUN, FUN
If you don't have transportation to Boulder City (about 20 mins away from Las Vegas), they will pick you up in a bus at the Excaliber Hotel.

I wore a go pro, the organisers actually provided me with a helmet to attach it to. We still bought the photos they took though as it supports their business.

You can, but you better have it tied on to you somehow!
Suggest: In between runs, take all the pix you want of yourself or your group, but on the line itself you don’t want to try to have a phone/camera in your hand and have to do brakes too.
How long does it take to ‘hike’ to the zip lines?

After the van ride up the mountain, there is a 5 minute walk to the first zip line. It's mostly uphill and it isn't difficult at all. There's also a 1 to 2 minute walk between zip lines after that.

Is there any kind of back support while Ziplining? Some people looked like they were "sitting" and one looked like they were trying to hold themselves up. Also, is a person able to slow their zipping speed if it seems too fast?

You are in a harness that attaches to the cable with four caribingers. You have a brake to slow your speed.
If you have back issues they do not recommend you go, similar to a rollwrcoaster ride disclaimer.
They do have a weight limit of 250lbs

Ziplining looks great. Will you also get good views of the canyon along the way, or is it just what is in the photos? Would also like to see the Canyon, typical views of red rock etc, would we need to do a different tour as well?

The views are spectacular and change as you reach each deck. You can see Las Vegas, El Dorado Valley, Boulder City, Lake Mead. The pictures posted do not give it all away :)
They are located on the opposite side of town from Red Rock. They do have multiple color rock out here. They fly on Red Mountain, They view black mountain and the colors on red mountain change as you fly over the canyon floor.

Exactly how much hiking is involved to get to the line? I have some walking limitations. Is it uphill? Level?

Yes. Hiking is involved. One hill is steeper than the rest and we had to carry some of our gear. The instructors are good about helping as much as possible.
