We participated in a two hour tour of local Anchorage breweries and it was a great experience. Our guide was the owner of Big Swig Tours and was very knowledgeable. It was a very relaxed tour and we sampled three different breweries. Our favorite was King Street Brewery.

Bryan was a great tour guide. We had a thorough review of how beer is made. Three local breweries provided great beers to sample.
Highly recommend if you like craft beers. A fun
experience.

If you are thinking about doing this tour, just do it. Bryan is absolutely amazing. He kept us safe and entertained on the bus. It was cool getting to know all of the people on the tour over some beer. There was a mixture of people: some from abroad, some from all over the country and some from Anchorage. The breweries which we saw were incredible, I loved getting to hear directly from the people who keep the Anchorage beer scene great.

Great day out on the Alaskan Railroad! The breweries we toured offered very different experiences and we loved them all. Brian was absolutely the best kind of tour guide and all the travel was super comfortable. Box lunch mid day was terrific and the train offered lots of yummy food options as well. Three hour train ride and then van trip back stopping off at each brewery. Didn’t feel like a day of travel! Spectacular views from the train and don’t forget to budget some merchandise dollars. Great T-shirts at all the places! So glad we went!

Thankyou Ginger for joining us on our world-class Hops on the Rail tour! So glad you enjoyed the full day experience. You can't drink beer all day unless you start in the morning!

Learned a lot, left with a huge smile and just felt like I was in another world with this tour. Got to taste some artisanal and house beers and some cool methods behind the making of some of the beers. I can't remember the later half of the tour, because I got so "happy", but I drank everything given to me, and they give you a LOT. If you want more beer, no worries, the people on the tour will not drink all of their offerings, so take theirs! Great tour!

We love beer and it is clear that Alaskans know how to brew good beer. We had a great day of seeing the Alaskan landscape during the train ride. We were immediately greeted by Bryan and the fun began. It was clear that Bryan knew a great deal about the brewing process and was absolutely fun to spend the day with. We had a good mix of seeing the brewing processes with the opportunity to simply enjoy a good vibe with some locals. I would recommend this tour for others and hope to be able to come back and take one of the other routes to experience more.

Saw this tour online, the reviews were great so we decided to book it since we had some free time in Anchorage. We were on a pretty tight tour schedule so we had little time to get out by ourselves and check out the town and the local brew houses. This sounded just right, Bryan our guide was awesome, he took us to 3 different breweries, where they showed us around and gave us a behind the scene tour and it really showed how hard these guys and gals work to brew a really good beer. The tour included some really good appetizers along the way as well and we got to spend some time with the locals. I really learned a lot from all the Brew Masters as well as Brian, he's pretty knowledgeable himself. I would recommend this highly, I learned a great deal about IPA's and now have a much better understanding of what type I really like so now I can confidently order one going forward knowing I'll get the beer I want.

We are so glad you got something more out of the tour than just tasting the beers. It's important that our guests feel like they connect with Alaska, it's people, and come away a bit more educated in their personal taste. Cheers!

Big Swig’s rail and crafted tour was perfect for us. Bryan picked us up at our hotel and took us to the train station. He walked us into the station and waited until we had our boarding passes. We rode the train along Turnagain Arm for about an hour to Girdwood, where he was waiting with his van. From there we went up to the Aleyska ski resort and took the tram to the top. We had over an hour at the top where there is a cafeteria, gift shop, viewpoints and a cozy bar and grill. We used our voucher for lunch. Then we headed back to the Girdwood Brewery. I was glad I had a substantial lunch because the pours are generous! After touring the brewery we returned by van to Anchorage for a distillery tour and finally a cidery. Bryan took us back to our hotel, pointing out restaurants as we went. The tour is a great way to ride the train, take in the views and meet the locals- a full day.

What an amazing tour! Everything ran right on time, was amazingly informative, about beer, AK Beer and the state of AK as well.
Really fun, the breweries and Chilkoot Charlies were really into it and were well prepared to educate and host a good time.
Best tour possible for those who want to skip the "tourist" things and go straight to what the locals love about living in Alaska

If you are looking to experience the craft beer community with an knowledgeable and friendly host, Big Swig is a great way to spend your afternoon! The brewers at the Breweries we visited were very generous with their time (and their samples), showing us behind the scenes and answering questions.
The tour of the historic themed bar was a fun surprise and a different than other beer tours I have taken.
Delicious food is included in the tour and Bryan (the guide) has lots of tips for other breweries to visit while in Alaska.
A great tour for a group, or a great way for a solo craft beer fan to tour with like-minded drinkers. The biggest perk - no rental car (or designated driver) required!
