Excellent Weekend Market
May 2021
Really nice outdoor market. They have moved to a parking lot near Walmart so I couldn't find it until I researched it's new location. Great place to get Alaskan made art and more. Plenty of parking. Very friendly vendors. I highly recommend stopping by and browsing.

Nice outdoor market
Jun 2021 • Family
This is the first year in their new location and it is a lot more convenient, as there is ample free parking. The typical booths are there: arts and crafts, Tee shirts, and mutliple food vendors.

Some interesting things, good food vendors, not many vendors. Bad Map!
Aug 2020
Some interesting things, especially jewelry and knives. Not many vendors (maybe 20?) the day we were there. Their website and Facebook page do not give the address. The map and pin they provide for location are incorrect and if followed will take you nowhere near the market, but to a rough area of town.

Anchorage market festivities

Loved walking around the Anchorage Market, looking around and talking to the vendors! Definitely take a moment and get some shaved ice from Sno Biz! (Recommend the pina colada with cream!) and also stop bye andromeda’s at the beautiful art at good migrations studio booth! If you’re lucky and Steve is there (the artist) definitely ask him all sorts of questions! His work is beautiful and he’s so full of ideas and stories!

The alaskan halibut stand harassed me and chased me to take my pic after I said no three times. And they got my order wrong after they chased me away.

We stopped by this outdoor market on a Saturday morning. Many stalls of local handicrafts and food vendors to choose from.

A Buffet of Local Art and Food
Jun 2019
I had a few hours to kill, but didn’t want to stray from downtown; thus, the Anchorage Market proved to be the most ideal ticket and destination. Open since 1992, this free admission and family-friendly attraction has been front and center in Anchorage’s cultural stew. Betwixt and between the 300+ stalls, you’ll find a plethora of items sure to catch your fancy – everything from local art pieces, dainty preserves, Alaska-inspired clothing, carnival treats and delightful hot eats at any number of food trucks. Reindeer sausage and salmon served many ways, anyone? It’s all here and ready to be discovered.

During my visit, the skies were a bit overcast, so temperatures were a bit on the cool side; however, that didn’t hamper the bustling activity of Alaska’s largest open-air market. The place remained packed and a proverbial beehive of activity. I spent the majority of my time ambling about the stalls, admiring the wares on offer. From an artistic perspective, the Anchorage Market functioned as a kind of “buffet” – practically anything one could want. In the end, I did purchase a few small items to take home with me, but did not sample any of the tempting food options as I’d just completed a repast at the Fat Ptarmigan (see my earlier review on this site).

Not Too Fun to Visit the Market on a Rainy Day
Sep 2019
We stayed at the hotel across the street from the market, so we took a stroll over there despite it was raining lightly and we were feeling cold. It's also the end of the summer season, so not many stalls were open. There seemed to have many food stands selling salmon this and salmon that. The arts and craft stuff were ok but not outstanding. Many stalls sold standard tourist-oriented items such as Alaska-themed t-shirts, bags, caps, little souvenir decorations that sort. There are also vegetable stands. I don't think many people were buying, most just were strolling along. I think the poor weather and lack of visitors made the place look rather drab on that particular grey rainy day.
