There is a parking area here on a bluff and you can access the shore of Cook Inlet via a short trail. On a clear day it is a good place to watch the sunset and see views of Mt. Susitna, downtown Anchorage, and maybe even Denali (aka Mt. Mckinley). It's very close to Ted Stevens Airport, so jets are... More

The view from the park is Mountains, the Inlet and the planes that fly overhead just as they land or take off from the International airport. I'm not sure why it is so much fund to watch the planes. . they are close and loud. The Coastal bird trail is right there and children just can't help getting off their... More

This point is worth the short drive to see the water and the sunset. Even though the sun sets at 11;30, we went at 9:00 and got to see the sun setting a bit. Beautiful color! There's a short walk down to the beach area, which is rocky. So wear good shoes! You have to walk up the hill to... More

Part of the half marathon course, absolutely gorgeous! Definitely worth a return trip to this spot. There were a lot of views - I just wish I could have spent the whole day just watching the tide go in and out (not trying to be funny, it would have been majestic).

The beach here would not be a good one by the standards of most places, but Turnagain Arm does not have many beaches suitable for recreation. It is a rocky beach. The overlook is beautiful with views all the way to Denali and down to St. Augustine.

I grew up in Alaska and returned for a visit, and of course I had to show my teenagers Point Woronzof, which was the 'make-out point' of Anchorage in the 80s and probably still is. The views are simply spectacular, especially at 'sunset' (which is at 11:30 or midnight-ish in June and it never actually gets dark). I was amazed... More

Point Woronzoff is a MUST DO!!! It is right after Earthquake Park on the same road. Some people park on the road to see the runway but if you are able, park in the parking lot and walk the wide open path down to the beach. Be careful. Its not a long path but it does have sandy dirt and... More

This is a great place to visit during your stay in Anchorage, as it's on the outskirts of town, and presents a magnificent view of the city across Cook Inlet, with the Chugach Mountains in the background, and in the other direction there's a great view of the Sleeping Lady Mountain, with the mighty, majestic Denali visible on a clear... If you find yourself in Anchorage, do yourself a favor and make sure you stop by Point Woronzof to watch a sunset. I will admit that there aren't many things in the world that I love more than sunsets. I also know that the experience will vary greatly depending on the weather conditions. Having said that, if you are able... More
