Great views of the Northern Lights in the fall and when the phenomenon is active. Check the website for northern lights activity. BUT, the views of the inlet and sunsets make the trip well worth the effort. It is at the edge of the runway...More

This is located right by the airport. There is plenty of parking. There is access to the water. Good views of Cook Inlet. There was a trail you could take along the cliff along the coast. We had an overcast day, so the view was...More

Small parking area near the airport with a bay view and access to the Multi-Use trail (except access was closed due to construction when we were there). Nearby Earthquake Park was a much a nicer experience.

If you are out this way, it is worth a quick stop. You can look back at downtown over the water. Moose frequent this area as well. We saw two HUGH bull moose driving near here.

We went to Point Woronzof to watch the jets land. The day we went was clear so we could see Mt. Denali also. There is an outhouse and an ice cream truck was there also.

This is a great place to view the sunset and quick access to Tony Knowles trail. Two minute walk to view airplane take off and landing.

Have been to Point W many times, winter and summer. Love to see the ice floes in winter and view of the Inlet in summer. If you are lucky you will find a moose in the nearby pond.

This is one of the lookouts along the coastal trail that you can drive to and park with no additional walking. Nice view, and there seems to be an ice cream truck that hangs out there. I recommend checking the tide schedule and going at...More

Located near the end of the runway for Ted Stevens International. This is a great place to watch planes take off and land. Access the coastal trail in both directions. Great place to observe moose, not always but a decent percentage. I’ve personally observed bald...More
