The guides were professional and they provided gear, food, coffee, intro movie and then an exciting ride! Mike, our guide was great and stopped from time to time to answer questions and enjoy the spectacular scenery. The ride was enjoyable and enough to make you see how mushing can become a passion. Not to mention the adorable puppies to snuggle at the end!

Michael was an excellent guide. It was very obvious he knew what he was doing and really enjoys bringing people out. The dogs were fantastic. Loved playing with them afterwards too. So friendly. I am telling everyone who has been saying that they plan to go to Alaska to make sure this is one of their stops. Everyone in our party thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Thank you Michael for helping to make one of my bucket list items so successful. You folks are the best!!!

Matt taught us a lot about the sport of dog sledding. Meeting all the dogs, including the puppies was a great experience & the “sledding” through the woods was fun. We visited on our way from Seward to Denali. I would definitely recommend this experience to others.

Our family thoroughly enjoyed learning all about how dogs are bred and trained to run the Iditarod. Matt and his wife Liz clearly love and care for their animals. We had a great chat, kennel tour and puppy time (a big hit with our toddler granddaughter.) But the practice run with 2 teams of dogs through the 17th Dog property was a definite highlight. Well worth the expense and a special memory of our Alaskan vacation.

PS Matt was both welcoming and considerate of all covid precautions. We'll be routing for his team in next year's race!

This was my family's first time dog mushing and the whole experience was great! You get to learn about the Iditarod trail and gain an appreciation for what the dogs and mushers do. Before heading out they make sure you have the appropriate gear for the weather. Once out on the trail our guide Tim was extremely nice and informative. We even got to see Denali while out on the trail ! We highly recommend booking your dog mushing experience with Alaska Mushing School

What a neat experience! Michael was a great guide. We arrived about 45 minutes early (expecting to hang around until the tour time), but he let us start early since we were the only group at that time. He was very informative and answered our many questions about the Iditarod, the dogs, and sledding in general. You could tell the dogs enjoy the run and are well cared for - they are so sweet! The surprise highlight for me was playing with the 6-week old puppies at the end. I would highly recommend this place. It was well worth the cost and drive from Anchorage.

We had three kids with us, ages 10-16, and everyone had a great time. Once you’re out in the trail, it’s very peaceful. Our mushers were so friendly, and answered all 100 questions. The dogs are the star of the show! And we had some friends who were unit able to make it, and I was very appreciative of the refund. Really a great tour and facility all around.

This guest arrived at the wrong location on the day of the Iditarod start, did a chargeback on their credit card, then waited 12 hours overnight for a response before writing a negative review in multiple places. They then alleged we were "cheaters" for not providing a refund for what was already a credit card chargeback. Our booking software company informed us the chargeback/refund combination is a common scam, however in the end this customer was given a full refund immediately once the chargeback was rejected and returned to us. Our apologies for the confusion, but this review is misleading despite months of attempts to explain that we have no control over chargebacks as we are not the credit card company.

This was an awesome experience and I would highly recommend Alaska Mushing School. The staff was friendly, professional, and safe. They start you off with a 20 minute video from the owner, who is a multi time Iditerod winner. Both guides that day had also completed the Iditerod.

Then they get you set with all the warm clothing you need and you head out to meet your team. The dogs get VERY excited when they know it's time to work. I have had mixed emotions about sled dogs in the past but this is what they do, and love to do. We headed out on the 5 mile trek, and stopped several times along the way to rest the dogs. Our guide was Tim and he was very nice and sociable, talking along the way about dogs, life, etc. It was breathtakingly beautiful and soooo peaceful.
We got back and while he took care of the team, we played with the ADORABLE puppies that were being watched over carefully by the mama.
We then went inside to disrobe and warm our feet on the heated floors!

Spoke with a super nice lady and she gave us interesting history on the breeding of what is now the Alaskan Husky. Thanked Tim, then headed back to Anchorage. My advise is to stay a night at their B&B and have an unobstructed view of the Northern Lights!

Would definitely recommend and do again.
