This should be on your bucket list! If you like nature and wildlife, you need to join Jeff on one of his Alaskan tours! We started in Anchorage and traveled by seaplane to a remote lake where we saw many, many bears (brown/Grizzly and black), many females with cubs, hunting and feeding on the last salmon of the season. We also saw tons of birds (Loons, ducks, swans, cormorants and bald eagles). Back in Anchorage we took day trips to see moose in rut, gorgeous Alaskan rain forest, and incredible, ever-changing mudflats... all against the beautiful autumn colors! One of the highlights was our helicopter ride (doors off!) to a local glacier! I am a fairly novice photographer, with OK equipment, and Jeff was able to work with me to achieve the best photographs I could. He worked with everyone and provided tips and tricks to help us all. He is incredibly present for everyone. I wholeheartedly recommend this trip for anyone interested in nature and photography!

What an experience! We opted for a private photo tour with Jeff near Anchorage to visit the Knik glacier and surrounding area. After some correspondence and talking about what we'd be interested in, Jeff took care of logistics from the helicopter charter to scheduling and had excellent communication the whole time.

Oh, did I mention he's a stellar photographer?! On the day of the tour he made sure we were set up with the right camera settings for the conditions we were going to face and despite the different levels of experience in our group he was very good at catering to our different needs answering every caliber of question. He brought his camera to take photos of us during the experience--the perfect topper to a great day in the field.

We learned SO MUCH from Jeff and can't wait to continue testing out the techniques he taught us to take our photography skills to the next level. I would highly recommend Jeff's photo tours as he has knowledge and experience for many skill levels.

Just did a private custom tour with Jeff for 3 days in early August after a week photographing bears outside of Katmai NP on a separate tour. Jeff was super professional and easy to deal with from the very beginning when I reached out to him online. We discussed what I was looking for (aerial and landscape with some wildlife thrown in for good measure) and then he worked behind the scenes with all of his contacts and relationships built up over the years to design an amazing itinerary that kept us busy from before sunrise to after sunset each day. Jeff is very knowledgable about Alaska and all of its different environments as well as the artistic and technical aspects of photography. You'll get a lot out of his photographic instruction whether you are a relative beginner or an advanced amateur. Moreover, he is very personable and just fun to hang out with, enjoying such a special place where he has lived for many decades. I can't recommend him highly enough and I will be back to do another tour, either private custom or one of his organized small group tours.

Jeff Schultz's Photo Workshop was absolutely Incredible.
He Far Exceeded my anticipation of a Photo Workshop.
His meticulous planning to the details, needs of everyone and above all the accommodations and the meals (imagine that on a landscape photography) speaks volumes of his experience. It is immediately apparent that he is a very knowledgeable, kind, patient and a brilliant photographer. He imbibes his knowledge to you in such a manner that you feel it's your own idea.
Unlike a lot of other leaders, who are busy loading their own portfolio at our expense, one never saw Jeff taking his own images. He was always with the group moving from one individual to the other. He was always giving positive suggestions.
The opportunities for Moose, Bears, Landscape were incredible and unlimited. The Helicopter (no doors) photography was breathtaking and an experience to savor.
The environ at Crystal Lake felt like "A Piece of Heaven".
If you or someone you know, likes this kind of photography, you should seriously consider Jeff Schultz Photography Expedition.
Thank You Jeff, for giving me an experience of a lifetime.

I just finished my second trip with Jeff in two years and, again, he went above and beyond to make sure that our group’s experience was spectacular. Jeff knows how to get his clients to the right place at the right time, never dealing with crowds. His expertise in wildlife and landscape photography has taken my photography up a notch. I highly recommend Jeff for anyone who wants to experience the beauty of Alaska, improve their photography and come home with amazing memories of their trip.

We joined one of Jeff’s tours to Lake Clark National Park recently and it was a great experience. He worked with each photographer in the field, did a couple of short evening presentations giving tips on post processing and was always available for questions. We had our own cabin at the lodge, staff was awesome, and we were mostly out in our own john boat with a knowledgeable guide (two people per boat) photographing bears and cubs and the fabulous scenery. When it rained there were two comfortable, roomy pontoon boats available so we could still get out and keep shooting. The food was excellent and I can’t recommend Jeff’s tours highly enough. His combination of tour and workshop was top notch!

Jeff took a group of five, myself included, on a trip to Anan Creek Bear Observatory and the LeConte Glacier near Wrangell and two days of whale watching in Juneau. I had traveled with him to Lake Clark to photograph brown bears and landscapes in 2021 and thought Alaska couldn’t offer any more exciting opportunities than that. But then I returned to Alaska in July 2022 to join him in Southeast Alaska.

Everything went smoothly thanks to Jeff's knowledge and his local connections that gave us access to the best boats and guides. (A lot of photo tours are run by people in the lower 48 that put together cookie cutter tours on the very beaten path). Jeff's guides put us in the right places to spot the wildlife and Jeff's skills as a photographer made sure the boat's position gave us the best light and composition. Seals lounging on icebergs at LeConte Glacier, humpbacks bubble net feeding and breaching in Juneau. Jeff did a great job booking the hotels, transportation and restaurants too.

This is now my third tour with Jeff (two weeklong trips and an evening tour of Anchorage) and I am planning to travel with him again. What really speaks volumes is that everyone on my trip was a returning customer. In fact on our last evening we asked him to put together a private trip for next year.

I just got from Jeff's "Bear's and Moose" trip and am now trying to process my photos and thoughts on the trip. My short answer/suggestion would be if you get the chance to photograph Alaska with Jeff, just do it. You will be happy with your choice. Jeff is an amazing photographer and an amazing teacher. He spent time with every photographer, and when not instructing he was paying attention to the details of the trip to make sure that each member of the group, he limits it to six, has a great time.

This trip started with brown bears on Cresent Lake in Lake Clark National Park. We stayed at the Mount Redoubt Lodge. Photographers were 2 to a boat with a Lodge guide and then Jeff rotating through the boats. I have been in Bear Jams in Yellowstone, The Tetons, and along the Russian River on the Spur; with Jeff is how it should be done. There were our 3 boats on the Lake and nobody else viewing and photographing over 25 bears in their nature setting.

Then we returned to Anchorage, and the surrounding area, in search of Moose.Jeff has a number of connections all out searching for Moose, and was able to provide a number of opportunities to photograph them. Lastly, one day we flew out by helicopter to Knik Glacier and shot landscapes in front of the Glacier, on the Glacier, and then from Grasshopper Ridge. No one can show you all of Alaska in one trip, even if you have several months. But, Jeff Shultz with his decades of knowledge can give you the best sampling of Alaska photography in his 8 day trips.

My wife and I booked a private 3 day workshop with Jeff. My expectations were very high and they were far surpassed. Jeff, quite simply, is an amazing teacher. He is patient and can help newbies, intermediate or expert photographers. The customized experiences were truly unbelievable. Getting up close and personal with wildlife and icebergs - wowza!! Jeff’s private workshops are not inexpensive but they are so unique and memorable that I cannot give a higher recommendation - book it! Hope to do it again soon!
