Go to the Fish Market everyone says. They put on a great show. They interact with the crowd. Watch them throw the fish. We waited for 20 minutes. Not a fish thrown. We were constantly told when you buy a fish we throw them. Disappointing....More
Yes, it is a fish market. Yes, they throw the fish. Yes they will pose with you for a photo. All of this was familiar to me before I came here. Once there, it seemed to be to be a bit strained, trying to make...More
I am visiting my daughter and her family in Botthel and they took me to Pike Market. We walked around for hours visiting art shops, novelty stores, food stalls and restaurants. It was truly a fun and intesting scenery.

The sights, the sounds, the smells. This is an amazing market to visit and shop. First time visitor and the Market lives up its reputation. Spend and hour or spend a whole day. We enjoyed lunch at Beechers Handmade Cheese Shop, best Mac n Cheese...More

The weather is usually great in August. It can be hot but it is not usually humid. We don't get much rain in August. You can get all kinds of seafood at the market as well as other fresh produce. You can get some fresh water fish but the specialty is seafood like salmon and crab.
I asked some one yesterday how long it would take me to walk from the Crowne Plaza hotel to the Pike Place fish market and didn't get a straight answer, all she would say was "it's hilly". Can someone give me a reasonable time estimate. I'm used to walking fast in NY so when I look at the map, to me it should take no more than 25 minutes.

You could walk on 5th Avenue about 4 blocks to Pike Street turn left and you'd have another five blocks I'm going to guess about 15 minutes
Seattle Spring Break Family Vacation (11 Replies)
Hello. I am trying to plan a relatively last minute Spring Break (March 26th-April 1st) vacation for my family of 5 (wife, myself and 15yo, 11yo, 10yo boys) to Seattle and the surrounding area. I'm looking for advice on where stay (the top family hotels I see online are booked) and activities. I was thinking about Pike Place Fish Market, Space needle, whale watching, and spending some time around Mt Ranier. Seeking any and all advice to make it a memorable vacation for all of us.

Keep in mind that there I will still be a ton of snow on the ground st Rainier. Although the road conditions could be fine you are required to carry chains at that time of year.
