Memorial to an icon
Sep 2021
The cemetery itself was gorgeous, with wonderful water views. Finding the Bruce Lee gravesite was challenging. We ended up plugging it into Google Maps and it took us to the right spot. It is a simple spot, exactly as the pictures show.

Go if you get a chance

I was honored to pay homage to both men (his brother Brandon is buried next to him) as they were such a staple in movies my family watched. The cemetery has free parking. Please be respectful of others that are buried there along the road. No charge to go to the cemetery.

Bruce Lee Dragon of jade warrior blind swordsman Ancient weapons costume s Those screen test shots have left fans with thoughts of what could have been for years now. They featured a lot of those images in the Golden Harvest documentary BL The Legend. Showing the portrait shots of Bruce Lee doing his best Zatoichi impression

A Beautiful Tribute.

This is a solemn, beautiful tribute to the two souls taken from us far too soon. The entire cemetery is a peaceful spot whose stones tell the story of the people that settled in Seattle. Worth a visit.

Worth a quick stop if you have a car

Took the bus to Lakeview Cemetery. Do not follow the Google or Apple Maps bus directions. It tells you to walk into the cemetery through a gate that does not exist. The only way in is through the 15th Ave main gate and is a short walk from the gate. Spent a few minutes there. Not crowded, but continues stream of people arrive, even during this pandemic times. We took a Lyft to Seattle Japanese garden from here instead of walking or taking the bus.

Solemn Tribute

Watching Bruce Lee’s movies and then seeing his son, Brandon, I made sure to include in my latest visit to the Seattle area. Both their careers were cut short but from the items left on their graves there were many who still remembered them.

The grave site was located in Lake View Cemetery and cars were allowed to drive on all roads. Waze was quite accurate with pin pointing the location which was on an incline close to a paved road. We decided to park away from the grave as there was some construction limiting access. However that did not prevent others from driving right up with their radios breaking the silence.

The site was still going through some renovations but at least the chain link fence was moved off to the side so visitors could walk directly up to the headstones. The bench was removed along with the walkway so the ground was a bit muddy. Hopefully it will be finished soon.

We all patiently waited our turn in line to pay our individual respects. The inscriptions were partially covered so I added the full text below for Bruce Lee followed by Brandon Lee:

“Your Inspiration Continues To Guide
Us Toward Our Personal Liberation”

"Because we don't know when we will die, we get to think of life as an inexhaustible well. Yet everything happens only a certain number of times, and a very small number really. How many more times will you remember a certain afternoon of your childhood, an afternoon that is so deeply a part of your being that you can't even conceive of your life without it? Perhaps four or five times more, perhaps not even that. How many more times will you watch the full moon rise? Perhaps twenty. And yet it all seems limitless. For Brandon and Eliza
Ever Joined in True Love's Beauty”

Wonderful Memorial in Volunteer Park!

Wonderful Memorial near Volunteer Park. We walked around for a while and found it. There was a crowd so we hung out and waited until they left. Worth a visit if you are nearby.

It’s Calm and Peaceful, But....

I’m not going to disrespect the iconic grave of Bruce and Brandon Lee because of ratings. I went to pay my respects to a legend (beautiful display), but others treat it like a tourist attraction. RESPECT is very important in my opinion, especially when your visiting one’s tombstone. When all of a sudden this small crowd shows up and starts being really loud and rude. One of the people with the crowd had to apologize to me because he could obviously tell I was a little annoyed. And the crew took off and left a water bottle half filled with urine. Really? So people out there, if your visiting the gravesite of the dragon, for petes sake show some respect and honor the legend of Bruce and Brandon Lee.....
