If you have to take one....which you seem to do in Seattle.....then it was OK, prompt and organized with some views during the short trip

My sailing was on the Anacortes - Friday Harbor - Sidney BC route. The ferry wasn't crowded even though it was quite full in terms of number of vehicles, and so there were plenty of seats, including the long bench type (where one could even...More

Used the ferry to visit Bainbridge Island; very comfortable and relaxing. When you return to Seattle, be ready for "The Hill"

Transportainment Folks! No driving, pretty views and the ferry takes you where you want to be in relative comfort. Plus they sell beer, chowder and popcorn on board!

Is better to have a reservation instead of just walking in. All the employees we talked with , were very attentive and helpful. The ferry has a cafeteria with pre-made food for the trip. The restrooms were clean all the time. Price was inexpensive for...More

Inexpensive way to enjoy a boat ride and see the city from the water. We ferried to Bainbridge Island and just got off the ferry and re-boarded to come back.

A 35 minute trip across to Bainbridge island from Pier 52 was a treat!! Marvellous views of Seattles skyline and Mt Ranier( if it's clear) The island was lovely , nice to walk around and some lovely shops, especially Mora ice cream !!!

What a unique way to travel! If you miss one ferry, there's a quite adequate bar that plays solid gold rock and serves up splits of Prosecco for a great price. Ship ahoy!

We took the ferry to Bainbridge and to Whidbey. It is fun to ride. Ran on time, efficient. Have seen long lines at times but we didn't experience much wait. Spotted some dolphin on one ride.

I'm not sure about the summer, but there are quite a few times available throughout the day. We walked right up and bought tickets. Hope this helps!

What's the most scenic route/most likely to encounter wildlife? I'd like to experience the "local" transport, rather than go on a cruise.

Anacortes/San Juan will not disappoint. It's 1.5 hours of serene beauty. It's at least a day trip. One can easily spend a week and not tire of the beauty of the San Juan islands. It's best to make reservations via the WSF... More
