Boat too crowded and space per cdc not adhered to. Wait time on and off vessel was excessive. Didn’t allow for seat selection or positions. Definitely do not recommend this trip to San Juan islands. Not worth the money and a total waste of time.

My husband and I inadvertently booked the wrong date. Dasha (sp?) and her team were amazing. The date we needed was sold out (capacity decreased due to Covid restrictions). They told us exactly what to do to go stand by and made it happen! Very courteous and professional. Trip across was great too even though it rained. Great food and drinks. Very knowledgable and friendly on board staff.

The crew did not enforce mask mandates indoor in the cabin as is required. Other wise it’s a lovely way to travel. Bring warm clothes if you want to be on top deck

We had a great time on the boat. Getting on the boat was quick and orderly, taking off on time. You have assigned seats but can roam around and go to the top deck. Snacks are available to purchase and reasonably priced. After dropping off passengers in Friday Harbor , we set sail to the San Juan Islands to whale watch. The boat communicates with other boats and they took us to where some whales were spotted. We spent all of our time there which was fine. We saw one family of orcas and they were very active. We arrived back to Friday Harbor and had a couple of hours to shop and eat. On the way back to Seattle we spotted another group of orcas and spent some time watching them. It made us a few minutes late arriving into Seattle but i'm so happy we got to see the other group of orcas. Overall a fun day! I highly recommend this !

August 2021 - Have to generally agree with the 'underwhelming' review from Fremont. And, we did take the San Juan Island trip. Despite an all day commitment (from about 8 am to 8 pm), we had only about 45 minutes of whale watching. We saw distant Orcas (which is understandable due to applicable regulations) - and, just as we were about to leave, some Orcas came serendipitously close to our vessel - which luckily salvaged part of the day (but the brief experience did not justify the heavy investment of time). Time in Friday harbor itself was just long enough to grab a meal and stroll the main areas. The crew were friendly, with one notable exception. The person who took food orders did not seem to understand the value of a smile (which can be accomplished even with mask on) or a pleasant tone of voice (or a 'thank you' when purchase was made) - she seemed a bit annoyed by things like a simple black coffer order and other similar straightforward food orders/questions (example: "Excuse me, how much time will we have in Friday harbor". Response: "Are you going with us on the whale watch at 2 ?" Response: "I think so, isn’t that part of this trip?" - then directed me to a schedule – what I came to understand that she was tersely getting at is that you could skip the whale watch and have 4 hours in port or go on the whale watch and have 2 hours in port. I would have expected a ready and cheerful explanation, as that is there is their business - When I politely mentioned my concern up the line I was met with the following response "Well it can be frustrating". - So, I guess taking money for food/drink orders and asking about schedules is 'frustrating' - hmmm... with heavy sigh.... ). The naturalist did an adequate job; but, we have done similar whale watch excursions on both the east and west coasts - we would rate the naturalist in the average column. If you are staying in downtown, this line is a good whale watch choice simply because it is convenient. If you have a car and can consider other options... well....
