Etched in my memory forever!!!
Dec 2019
My Family and I went into the Bookstore expecting the usual selection and an in and out visit, but what we experienced was by far one of my most memorable moments in my adult life.

The owner was absolutely what great people should exemplify. Personable, intelligent, engaging and generous.

Thank you again for such a wonderful experience, it will never be forgotten.

Such a Great Store!
Sep 2018 • Couples
We found this bookstore in the Pike's Place market. Not only is the store great but the person who works there (not sure if he is the owner or not) is so sweet, funny and friendly. He even sang to us. You have to stop by this store and buy a funny or great book. We got a cute book for our grandsons.

Amazing Owner
Sep 2018 • Friends
This little book shop on the lower level in Pike Place Market offers a nice selection of used and new books. It includes other offerings, such as calendars and greeting cards, with all merchandise nicely displayed. What sets it apart from every other book store I've been in worldwide, however, is David, its owner. His enthusiasm, knowledge and welcoming attitude combine to make this a most unusual place.

When I have visitors during my Seattle stays, I always encourage them to visit Lion Heart Book Store and accompany them whenever I can do that. As we browse through the books, it makes my day when David breaks into song or decides to quote poetry. He is always ready for a philosophical discussion with a customer but keeps an eye out to assist others and to respond to someone approaching with a question about books. He truly knows his merchandise, from children's literature to science fiction. I often overhear him happily giving directions to tourists, making suggestions of places that may be of interest or just having a pleasant chat.

There is such a winning combination here: good books, reasonable prices and David.

Fun store with a great running discussion behind the counter
Jul 2018 • Family
Stopped in to walk through the market and found the Lion Heart Book store. Being a sucker for all kinds of book stores, i went in. It did not disappoint.
While i was there the guy behind the counter spoke with me and in the course of a few min had me onto a book i wound up really enjoying. I wasnt the only one - everyone was having this same kind of discussion mixed with jokes and fun. Made for a great experience.

Good for the Soul
Dec 2017 • Couples
This store and its kind, creative, generous owner, David Ghoddousi has become the favorite stop on our annual Christmas trip to Seattle. The picture above tells it all. The minute you walk in, David makes the effort to connect with you with genuine warmth and humor. Although his selection may not appeal to the hurried Barnes & Noble crowd, I love his eclectic mix of new and old. I never enter with the intention of buying, but also never leave without some interesting and challenging book. It could be a BBQ cookbook, a biography of Keith Richards, or something by Thomas Merton.

But most of all, I wish that every person scurrying around with their head buried in their iPhone, or fretting over what to buy, or discouraged about the disaster that is our current political reality, could stop in for a small dose of grace that David dispenses to each person he meets.

Fantastic Place
Jul 2017
The owner of this store is just delightful! He was reciting poetry (by Shel Silverstein, no less) from memory and quoting authors selected by other shoppers at the same time. I selected a book from a stack without realizing he was even looking my way. He immediately knew what it was, who wrote it and how rare a hard copy version is to find. A book lover who wandered in this shop will have an experience not to be forgotten.

Fun to visit
Apr 2017
As shops go the range wasn't that great (although I did find something to buy, which isn't always the case), but an extra mark for the guy behind the counter who was so enthusiastic and fun, and interested in everything.

The owner is worth the visit

The owner has a great personality. The book selection wasn't quite what I was looking for but he had some good stuff. He always seems to be telling stories and interacting with the customers. He's worth the trip.

This is a little gem of a place in Pike Place Market. The owner David is knowledgeable and is the heartbeat of the establishment! Thoroughly enjoyed my time browsing the selection of used books and would highly recommend a visit. Don't forget to send him a postcard!
